The fight wasn't so much "boring" to me, as it was ..um, repetitive. When you think back about the fight, you can't really distinguish one round from another. Cotto backs up. margarito follows throwing. miguel counters. Every round until rd 11.

Just sameness. No ebb and flow.

If you don't care, why comment? Especially when other people clearly do care?

Do you stop by bowling alleys to tell them that they are boring you?

great way to describe it . I didn't get a sense at anytime in the fight that margarito was in danger or hurt. it was just the same thing every round. the only suspense was predicitng which round cotto would fold. and since we all know that I don't care to watch it again.

I watched it again to see if Cotto had actually clinched or tied Tony up at any point. I thought I may have missed that.

          He didn't.

I live around mexicans and they didn';t know who margarito was. it was not a big event type fight and will struggle to do 250 k when the final numbers are released
My instincts tell me to go the opposite of whatever you think. I'd be happy to bet you that the final numbers are over 300K. You don't have much, but I'd still enjoy taking it away from you.

              Arum the optimist

              Posted by Dan Rafael

              Your weekly random thoughts …

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told me the other day the Manny Pacquiao-David Diaz lightweight title bout did between 225,000 and 250,000 buys on HBO PPV. To put it nicely, Arum is ever the optimist. I asked industry folks who are far less prone to exaggeration than Arum and was told that the fight will be lucky to crack 200,000. Lucky. It just goes to show you that no matter how great Pacquiao is, without a known foil he can't do serious business on his own.

Pacquiao's pay-per-view fights with more established stars Erik Morales (a trilogy), Juan Manuel Marquez and Marco Antonio Barrera all did excellent business. But Diaz, as likeable as he is, was a huge underdog and had never been on HBO before being put into a major pay-per-view main event. Despite tireless efforts promoting the fight, doing interviews and making public appearances, Diaz was essentially an unknown, even though he held a title.
You just proved the point that Rafael doesn't just go by what Arum tells him, he knows "industry folk"

Here's the link again from Thomas Hauser who is probably the most respected writer in boxing today.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena seats 16,000. A disappointing crowd of 10,477 attended the fight. Puerto Rico vs. Mexico is still essentially an east coast rivalry. The bout would have been better attended had it taken place at Madison Square Garden or in Atlantic City. But Arum’s judgment was vindicated by the first post-fight pay-per-view numbers, which indicate that there were close to 500,000 buys.
For over twenty years, Seconds Out has been delivering the very latest boxing news, results, interviews and more.

Hauser = Respected Boxing writer, insider to everything HBO.

DIOS DOMINICANO = Floyd **** buffer.

But why cant/wouldnt they release the numbers if the fight did all this 400k that everybody seem to be throwing about? Am going with the 300K because i also believe they would have release the numbers if it was actually over 450k.

Who else besides Dios Dominidip**** is throwing around the 300k number??

Kim,Rafael,Hauser have been saying the fight did under 500k but over 450k, I guess a poster at boxingscene is a more reliable source for you then the best boxing journalist.
