By ON his level, that does not mean better than. It means around that level, to be competitive. Not saying he beats a prime Roy.
Agreed, he would be competitive with a prime Roy. But boxers are measured by resume and Joe's is nowhere near Roy's.

Probably has the most annoying group of followers, tied with the Klitschko's. But they're loyal alright.

I think you brought up a good point. His arrogance and showboating is a fact. It just doesn't suit him and does make him look redicilous IMO. He payed for it against Hopkins and Kessler.

But you have to respect his long road, staying dedicated for such a long time, staying unbeaten(before meeting Hopkins) for such a long time. That's what I respect most about him. That kind of drive is pretty rare.

Why would a fighter who doesn't get international exposure get to choose the demands for price and location? Yes it's true that americans don't leave home much, only fighters like Winky that spend 95% of their career accepting that they will have to campaign around the world to gain acceptance anywhere.. and even still, that's probably why he was bigger in europe than he was in the states. I'm not agreeing with the system, but americans get bigger exposure and it would be a ****** risk to get robbed in someone elses back yard when noone back home would acknowledge any accomplishment for the fight.

When? Hopkins pulled out a fight before and asked for double money. Calzaghe wasn't even a big name in the UK until 3 years ago. Im sick of hearing about Yanks and there Mecca of boxing, its called being a "world champ" and not being "US Champ".

If RJJR or BHOP fought the opposition that Joe Calzaghe has fought, they too would still be undefeated. Its common sense me no offense. The US has better fighters point blank. If this wasnt the case, then US fighters would be running all over Europe to fight against the best fighters in the World. This is why EVERY FIGHTER WHO IS A FIGHTER WANTS AND NEEDS TO FIGHT IN THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres no money like the money wou make in a mega fight in MAdison Square Garden and or Las Vegas!

Yes but Hopkins was looking for fights with Tito, Roy Jones, De La Hoya, Mosley, Winky, Vargas, and Toney. These are fighters that fight in america. Noone in america heard of Calzaghe, so why would BHop play in his court?

Roys un doubtedly got a better resume. I think a little too much emphasis is put on resumes though. Fighters careers are largely forged by the climate around them, in the quality of opponents available, willing and scene overall.

True true. Roy had more pull than BHop and Calzaghe combined in the opponent draw category.

Who care if America has heard of him, this is what annoys me the most in boxing. Why should a fighter whos been more recognised be getting the better end than a world champion. A ring is a ring, its a sport, its NOT A BUSINESS! boxing went downhill when people started treating it as a business and not a sport. It doesn't matter if your fighting in Timbuktu or Las Vegas aslong as the best are fighting the best but to many fighters including Calzaghe just fight for money these days.

No this fight is not even close in RJJR's prime. Calzaghe gets spanked all night!!
