I really like and respect Cotto but I just dont think he will be the same after that

Yeah, I think Cotto heart and chin were underestimated.. even though he did sortof quit. He took some shots and fired right back, even before the stoppage. Good way to fight him is PRESSURE.. he may have flash backs ..

I htink if he gets on the inside and rips CIntrons body , he'll stop him.

he quit. Im not knocking him for it, he did what he needs to do, which was quit. he wasnt KD the second time. he took a knee and looked at his corner and shook his head.

I honestly believe Cotto can come back strong, I don't think he will be phased in the least bit. Cotto was winning against Margarito so it isn't like his style coming in to the fight wasn't good he just lacked a body offense, he didn't make it hard for Tony to go rounds because he never assaulted the body, the fight never took a toll on Tony because he was fighting a patient and well calculated fightand really didn't have to do much of anything accept throw punches while Cotto was expending all kinds of energy in constant movement and backing away.

he was supposed to trade in the middle of the ring with Tony using his better skills to bob and weave and fend off against punches all while landing his own, he punched back at Tony but it wasn't enough to do damage, it was the body Cotto was supposed to be attacking and he didn't. factor all that into the only time Cotto actually took massive, fight ending punishment WAS on the ropes so all he had to do was stay off them, plant his feet and bring out the Cotto who came in against Quintana, aggressive and relentless regardless of opponent.

I think the magnitude, the media, the money and fame and all these things finally took it's toll. they were hyping this as fight of the year and both guys wanted to come in tip top shape, I'm not saying Cotto wasn't in shape, he was probably the healthiest he's ever been but that all means nothing if he's waisting it with unnecessary motions and movement. the way to beat Tony is to **** away, **** with him and just out score him, he's a guaranteed blood fest fighter so you just better be the guy to draw the blood first. I think these are all mistakes that Cotto can fix and perservere past.

guys like Cotto don't go down easy, he didn't quit neither he just simply didn't argue, his corner stopped it and he was in no position to complain because in the end the fight still would have been stopped and he would have just looked like a sore loser crying, he trusts his team. I don't think he quit though because had his corner not stepped up and let it continue Miguel would have kept fighting as hard as he could, quitters don't get up and they certainly don't wait until they look like how Cotto looked to quit the fight.. plain and simple I just think Cotto needs to dig deep and bring back the the body assault. thats how you beat Tony, speed and body shots and Cotto has that but he failed to excercise them, a mistake that cost him a lot but in turn gave him something to prove now. I don't think guys like Cotto fold under pressure and he will bounce back strong. 100

Crillz ur a quality poster but im gonna have to repecfully disagree here, Marg took Cotto's best shots and plenty of them he just dont appear to be hurtable in this division at this point so i dont think its wise for Cotto who we know can be hurt to stand there with him, even tho he'd land more shots and better shots he'd get stopped. The body shots would help slow Tony down but as Cotto said himself the openings just werent there.
I think he was great in there and the only adjustments id make would be to have him tie Tony up from time to time, stifleing his attack and getting a breather for himself while also running the clock out a bit because thats what it came down to, Miguel was winning but even early on u got the sense he wished it was over. Also LESS emphasis on power, u aint gonna hurt the guy so just rack up the points with fast sharp shots, Finally id have him stay off the ropes more if he could, tho im sure that part be easier said than done.

I dont know. I think people are overexagerrating the actual beating that took place. He looked really bad facially, but he didnt even have to stay in the hospital long afterwards. He didnt even get knocked out unconcious, which makes a huge difference.
