Anyone else think Jones is underrated?

Jones WAS very good, maybe underrated a little. Jones NOW is a shell of himself so stop trying to pimp Jones as a great fighter to make Joe look amazing if he wins. Beating Jones now is equal to what Joe did to b hop in april. Good win but you still beat an aging legend who still good is not great. Shoulda fought them years ago or take on Pavlik if you want real credit my friend.

As for top 10 I dont think he was that good. I say top 30 would be fair though.

on top of his superior athletic ability and speed Jones was also one of the most intelligent fighters but at the end of the day he was only a man and he had flaws believe it or not just like every fighter

u would have to pick Jones over most fighters in the 90's but the idiots that think it was impossible to beat Jones in the 90's piss me off

I'd add Steve Collins to that list.

I will give my input on Roy Jones Jr. Legacy:

- 1988 Olympic Silver medalist - (should have been gold)

- Champion in 4 different weight classes and unified in one weight division.

Beat several fighters while in his prime or while they were in their prime. To name a few: James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Mike McCallium, Montell Griffin, Reggie Johnson, Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods, and Felix Trinidad.

Beat a top 10 Heavyweight. Wait let me restate my answer.... He whipped a top 10 Heavyweight in John Ruiz to become the first Middleweight since Bob Fitzsimmons to win the Heavyweight title.

Fastest fighter at 160 and above since Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali and he was faster then both of them in his prime. He is IBHOF material as soon as he hangs his gloves up.

Also Jones never ever looked comfortable on the ropes even back when he fought Hopkins he looked out of his comfort zone on the ropes and he has never had the ability to tie his man up it would have been interesting to see how he would have coped with a aggressive fighters like Benn & Collins and a slick Lefty like Nunn who had quick hands and was a good counter puncher.

I've had the 'ropes' argument with a ton of people. As far as I could see he was **** on the ropes and mostly would just allow his opponent to hit him until such time as they stopped. He was neither good at fighting off them or moving off them.

Don't be upset though Jones fans, that was really the only major weakness I saw in his technical game, which isn't bad going really.

i dont think there should be any question about it Jones was absolute garbage on the ropes he counter punched a few jack assess of the ropes granted but when he was in their with a real fighter he got pounded for the most part

You reckon? Maybe if we define big as 'the biggest name fighter we can find that old Roy can definitely beat'. Trinidad was way too small to be in with Roy in the first place, and was more static than he was as well. In that fight thet mostly just stood in front of each other hitting each other.

It wasn't **** or anything but I personally have a hard time listing it as a major win.
