Anyone else think Jones is underrated?

I have been absolutely crucified on here for saying that, but it is true.Comment

When you've hit rock bottom like Jones did and you're trying to make your way back up.....Tito isn't a bad place to start. It was probably the biggest fight he could get a the time IMO?You reckon? Maybe if we define big as 'the biggest name fighter we can find that old Roy can definitely beat'. Trinidad was way too small to be in with Roy in the first place, and was more static than he was as well. In that fight thet mostly just stood in front of each other hitting each other.
It wasn't **** or anything but I personally have a hard time listing it as a major win.
He got Calzaghe in the end. So that fight ended up somewhere?Comment

Roy was really peaking at 160 168 and was just riding the wave at 175 from about 2000 to the Ruiz fight , after he went to heavy he was never the same fighter not even close , whether he could fight of the ropes dont really mean much because in his prime he didnt have to , but its a backhand to say a real fighter pounded him when at the time he was shot to the ****house , prime Jones would take Glen Johnson out , Roy is shot right now and has been for many years .u are dead right to point that out abadger and dont let anyone tell u any different

Sure, it was decent as a comeback fight, and it helped the Joe fight happen, so ****, it's all good.Comment

u are assuming that nobody had the ability to make him fight off the ropes in his prime and to an extent u are right but only because he did not face a lot of fighters he should haveRoy was really peaking at 160 168 and was just riding the wave at 175 from about 2000 to the Ruiz fight , after he went to heavy he was never the same fighter not even close , whether he could fight of the ropes dont really mean much because in his prime he didnt have to , but its a backhand to say a real fighter pounded him when at the time he was shot to the ****house , prime Jones would take Glen Johnson out , Roy is shot right now and has been for many years .
Roy was not unbeatable in the 90's he struggled against cagey fighters epecially cagey leftys ,okay he did not struggle with Del Valle but he was decked in that fight and whether u believe he was prime or not he struggled with Tarver's cagey southpaw counter punching style as he did with Harmon another cagey counter punching lefty and he struggled with the cagey orthadox counter puncher in Montell Griffin who was outboxing him untill the knockdowns i know Collins and Benn are not cagey fighters but when u look at Roy's game as a whole u can see he had flaws that could have been capatalised on by top fighters
bottom line the guy was not unbeatable in the 90's well he never proved he was anyway he looked it though i must admit but it is not gospel that he would of beaten all these top fighters had he faced them
BTW he did not look to hot against Sugar Boy Malinga either untill the KO i know Roy won against Malinga ,Griffin ,Harmon ,Dell Valle but that is like me saying Naz beat Kelly ,Boom Boom Johnson ,Sanchez ,by brutal KO's and showed no weakness doing itComment
