I think you subject Joe to a level of scrutiny that you do not subject other fighters too, precisely because he is one of the best boxers in the world right now and you don't want him to be. I think your starting point with him is one of disdain so you see everything he does/ has done in the worst possible light. (Now is where you tell me I wear rose coloured glasses). Possible?

Isn't that what everybody does with fighters they don't like who happen to be at the top. Primarly it comes from the way he fights to the dip****s who praise his greatness soo much turning it into something that it's not. Still I don't disagree that he is #2 p4p, and the best super-middleweight in the world if not the best ever.

I think Pacquiao is just as much of an athlete as Joe C. And neither really depend on sound boxing fundamentals, so iff Joe is the better boxer it's marginal.

Dunno what you've read of my opinion before, but basically I think Joe's ability to vary his game is pretty awesome. Pacquiao by contrast just pwns his opposition with his relentlesness.

This is a problem with P4P in general. Its basically a glorified all-weights ranking system based on record. Whatever happened to who beats who if they are the same weight? That is, who is the most talented at what they do.

The problem with this is that it's mostly down to (usually very biased) opinion.

I could say that Tyrone Brunson beats everyone p4p and place him number 1 on my list even though he certainly does not have the resume to prove it.

This is also the problem when people make all-time heavyweight lists and put guys like Vitali Klitschko and Ike Ibeabuchi who never truly realized their potential into their top ten (over proven past heavyweights like Larry Holmes, Joe Frazier, Joe Louis).

Make a poll about a p4p match-up between Calzaghe and Pacquiao and I would say that the results would be just about even, or slightly in Pacquiao's favour.

There is no way of really knowing what would happen of course, because it can't ever happen. The best thing that can happen for boxing is when the number 1 and the number 2 are around the same weight classes, like in the case of JC Chavez and Pernell Whitaker, although that one unfortunately ended in a robbery.

Most would agree that Pacquiao has consistently fought the better opposition lately, which is why he is the consensus number 1.

I agree that Pac has fought better competition, I'm always saying it, and picking Pac to beat Calz P4P is pretty reasonable too, he's pretty good, its just not what I think. You can't make the 'published' P4P list in the way I suggest either because as you say, its just opinion.

You know boxing pretty good from what I've seen though, who are your suggestions for the talent P4P? I would really like to know.
