half of those things happen anyway fighters do get slower, they do find it harder to slip the punches and they do find it harder to get their own punches off but that doesn't always mean their shot. its something you touched on when talking about hopkins and barerra - those fighters might lose their physical capablities (speed, strength, stamina etc) through age but they still adopt a good effective approach/style and they are still capable of winning match ups.

i suppose its because those two fighters still have the mentality, the hunger and the desire to do what they do (which is again someting that you touched on when talking about a fighters attitude - which applies not only to the fight but to the training and lifestyle).

not every old fighter is shot, but nearly every shot fighter is old.

all in all a good post if you ever do get bored of the DLH - mayweather - cotto - calzaghe - willaims - margarito bull on here go on a different board like the training one or the historic match ups.

    a decent post though.

      Deffinatly,

When a fighter is hurt by shots they use to take easy is a top one. I think the main thing is overall speed, reflexes in avoiding shots, speed of hand and foot, wether they are able to get their shots off. Castillo is a good example, in his last fight he simply wasn't able to pull the trigger,

I know you already mentioned most of that, but i couldn't think of anything you didn't mention !

I never said it had anything to do with age, but to act as if age has nothing to do with it is a bit naive.

In terms of being tired of the monotonous situation that has continued on these forums, I was merely pointing it out. I decided to try and change the situation, as apposed to just watch it happen.

        Thanks for the reply.

          1) When they are no longer fleet footed.

          2) Just look at Castillo-Lujan. Lujan was there to be hit.

Well.. Erik Morales (in ATLEAST ONE of the last two fights) and Barrera (ATLEAST IN THE SECOND FIGHT) with Pacquiao, were faded. If you don't see that, you don't know those two in their primes.

lol why did you bring up Pacquiao?

                      exposed.

lol funny a Mexican bring sup Pacquiao....
So was the Marco barrera who fought jmm washed up?
Marco is far from washed up if he fought now he could still give many 130 pounders hell.
Erik Morales is already 200 pounds lol so he should stay retired.
