Who the better boxer: Cotto vs. Kessler

Cotto is one of the best boxers around today. He may have lost to Margarito but those first 6 rounds was a boxing clinic. He has the better jab than Kessler and his body shots are awesome. He has proven that he can fight more than one style. He has proven his against quality opposition

It’s Cotto

The only thing Cotto executes with excellence are hooks to the body. Against Gomez he showed a nice snappy jab, but we've seen precious little of it in other fights.

Cotto is poor fighting on the backfoot, preferring usually just to keep out of harms way.

He is an effective fighter up close, but is really not exceptionally adept at closing space.

I voted for Cotto but IMO this statement indicates that you have not seen Kessler fight.

I watched Kessler – Mundine I brought the bloody PPV. I watched Kessler – Calzaghe and some of his other fights. Cotto has one of the best jabs in boxing

I vote Cotto on this one. Both guys are pretty complete but Kessler almost always goes forward. Even tho he's effective when counterpunching, he does it goin forward and forcin his opponent to throw sumthin he can answer. Of course that's a compliment to Kessler not a knock, but for the purposes of this poll even tho it's a good attribute to have, I say Cotto since he's better at fightin goin backwards based on what I've seen from both guys. That's about the only edge I give to Cotto in a close debate.

Cotto is poor fighting on the back foot??? Rewatch the Margarito fight. He was absolutely dominating on the back foot but his weak chin and stamina cost him the fight and Margarito relentlessness.
