I think Gomez is the most underrated heavyweight in the world right now, but I have to admit that I've never seen Virchis fight.

Since moving to heavyweight he's been underpowered.

Funny how much publicity Gamboa gets and good fighters like Gomez and Odlanier Solis (who stopped Haye in the Ams) get zilch.

and Solis has done what as a pro? accolades come to those who earn them. Gomez' reputation will never recover after the Diaz debacle.

Gomez should have the skills to outbox Virchis who was a late starter in boxing, but Virchis has the size advantage.

It's a big test for Gomez' will and stamina. If Gomez passes it, I would easily put him in the top 10 and he should get a title shot as soon as possible.

I've described this fight before as a showdown between the talented boxer who has lacked motivation in the past and the fighter who may not be as talented but makes up for it by working very hard.
I'm glad it's finally happening, these two have been out of the picture for too long.

Come on man, Gamboa and Danny Jacobs have been getting megahype since their first pro fight. Solis has fought 10 guys, not one losing record among them. He at least deserves some recognition as an upcoming, undefeated prospect, given that he was a gold medal winner in 04 and has 5 other golds in the PanAm and WAC.

Gomez hasn't made a name for himself at heavyweight yet but he's a very good boxer, I think he can outbox Virchis to a decision.
