nothing wrong with rooting for boxers of your nationality but you need to be realistic about how good they are and who they can and can't beat.

for instance, I'm american and I rooted for Hopkins to beat Calzaghe, but I knew he wouldn't.

of course there is nothing wrong with that! i think they only problem i see for some people is that when discussing who will win a fight between that fighter ur rooting for and an opponent, they just want to hear a good reason why you think they will win. not well he is mexican, or he american, or he british so he goin win because he needs to represent our country. my favorite fighers i dont go by nationality anymore, i root for whoever i enjoy watching fight. which my top 2 one happens to be mexican like me in margarito and the other happens to be known as "the mexicutioner" lol in pacquiao. i have a few other favorites but thats not the point anyways. now when not watching one of my favorites yea usually i will root for my fellow mexicans

we do it in the olympics. we do it in the world cup.

people pick who they're fans of for a variety of reasons. race/national pride is just as good as any.

people go nuts over their teams from this city or that. they just live there.

what's wrong with someone rooting for fighters who was born in the same country or same country as their parents? what's wrong with someone cheering for someone of the same race/ethnicity?

I'm a dane and I only got Kessler and boxing in this country probably dies when he calls it a day. So yes I support him. But I try to be realistic as well.

is denmark considered scandinavian? i don't remember.

maybe sweden , denmark , norway and finland can all pool their resources.

Kessler would still be the only boxer to root for...

                  Yes. Denmark is scandinavian.

That's right. I guess the no.2 scandinavian fighter is Asikainen of Finland. Of course there's also Mads Larsen, but he's nearing the end and his mind doesn't appear to be too much into it ATM.

Nothing, you should be commended for showing pride in your heritage.

                      This is real talk.

I think most people who say, "why you only root for Mexicans" when in reality you also root for others. I think these people don't have many fighters to root for so they can be unbiased.

And theres nothing wrong with rooting for your own to win.
