Toney has more skills than all of the HWs combined, but he's a fat lazy bastard.

Look at all those losses on his record. He was schooled by Roy Jones, much the same way that Lacy was schooled by Calzaghe.

He lost twice to Montell Griffin, who was easily dominated twice by Jones (although in the first fight Jones got DQ).

Yes, Toney moved up those weight divisions, but he was caught cheating with steroids twice. If he really is an all-time great, why did he need steroids? He's probably is a natural super-middleweight or light-heavyweight, but he's had to move up higher because he isn't smart enough to control his weight.

No no no.....The fact that James Toney started off as a Middleweight, and has moved up and fought and won world titles in the Middleweight, SMW, Cruiserweight, and HW divisions is remarkable in itself...The man has never been KO, and never even seriously hurt in a fight.....His win against Michael Nunn in 91 was a major accomplishment no matter how far ahead Nunn was during the fight...Michael Nunn was in the top 5 P4P at the time, he was a DOMINATING champion at the time with 36 wins and 0 losses....He fought Mike Mccallum three times, winning 2 and fighting to a draw in there first fight, again when he beat Mccallum in the 2nd fight, Mike had lost 1 fight in 44 proffesional bouts, this was 10x more impressive then RJJR victory over Mccallum some 5 years later.

Also remember he dominated Tim Littles and absolutely mopped the ring with one Iran Barkley who beat the piss outta Tommy Hearns twice, althought the 2nd fight was a SD, Tommy was beaten up very very bad in this fight the entire night....

His first fight with Montell Girffin was very very close, if you havent seen it, watch it, its tough to score, although I did have Griffin winning 115-113, and lets just face it, IMO, James would struggle with Griffin everytime that he fought him...Griffin was also a very solid fighter, who really just lost a lot of the mental part of the game after Jones blitzed him in 97...Jones really had trouble with him in there 1st fight, and was hit more in that fight then in all his fights in his career up until that fight....

His fight in 2003 with Vassily Jirov was one of the greats ever. It was 12 hard fought rounds in which Toney rolled and countered Jirov all night until Jirov was damn near unrecognizable after the bout. Remember that Jirov was unbeaten at this point in his career, and had rolled over everyone he had faced. He comes back in his very next fight, a whooping 27 lbs. heavier then 190, and dominates one of the greatest HW champions of all time in 4 time champ Evander Holyfield. Stopping Holyfield in the 9th round. Holyfield was a beaten fighter in this fight, and who would have ever thought that even at this point in Holyfields career that a former MW Champion would move up to stop him in 9 rounds, if you woulda told me this in the 90's Id say you were dumb.

James hasn't exactly wowed us with his any of his performances since this fight, but the bottom line is the guy is an ATG, his name will be up there with the very best of them in the game, and the longevity that this man has shown over the past 19 years is a thing of pure greatness. His defensive style is uncanny, and the type that we will not see very much come the future...

If this doesnt show you ATG status, then nothing will my friend..

James Toney is and will forever be known as an ATG when it's all said and done!!
