My own view is that both Kessler and Abraham will get frozen out of the American picture for quite a while, and that beating each other will do little to help them. I take the fairly cynical position that it is simply not good business for the US TV companies/ promoters to make fights against threatening european guys like this, because if the US guy loses they lose a potential goldmine and the title goes overseas so there is no chance to build up a new US guy as a replacement. US audiences will simply never take to european boxers as they do home-based stars. Based on this I'd say you are absolutely right about Kessler being wise to try and develop a German following because that is apparently the next best thing.
Nice speculation from you and Liaison. I don't think Kessler is able to get a following in Germany. He has now beaten 2 german house fighters in Beyer and Sartison and is looking to beat another in 2 months time. Germany is impossible to break into unless you are managed by Sauerland or Universum who are backed by the 2 major networks.

Kessler's best chance of gahtering a following outside his native Denmark is in Britain. He has an english mom (or dad??) and he's well-known and liked after his fight with Calzaghe and his gentleman conduct thereafter.

As for him fighting on HBO, which is his goal, he must fight some well-known character from yankee-land, and noone seems willing to take that risk yet. I think he should go for a volontary defense against any name opponent fighting out of the US. Maybe Winky, Miranda or even Vargas.

Ha Ha...Vargas would be chubby at 168...might just be the fight to get Kessler into the American market??? Im sure Vargas would want the payday but not the beating...and his arrogant behavior before the fight would make US fans think highly of Kesslers gentleman like conduct as well...Maybe WW is the man...or Taylor should he get by Lacy (pfffft) which shouldint be an issue.

Vargas looked pretty fat last time I saw him.

One could hope for Winky but he has turned down Kessler before. He might rather opt for retirement.

Taylor is likely to fight the easier Froch and then we might be looking at Taylor, Bute and Kessler as the major beltholders when we enter 2009. An interesting unification tournament would be a fightfans delight.

            Kessler's nightmare:

Lacy retires, Froch beats taylor for the WBC title, Kessler and Froch fight for WBC title, Kessler wins, America says "Who Is Kessler?"

Its like walking up to a random stranger on the street and asking him what he thinks about Mikkel Kessler.

Kesslers time in the US will come ive no doubt about that!!!
Only problem is with these gaps between fights he will be in his late thirties and will end up retiring before really winning many US fans...he has already said hes only having a few more as he has made enough money to live comfortably and he doesint want to end up ******ed like Bernard Hopkins.

Mate its like walking up to any stranger???
If you asked any stranger about any boxer apart from Ali and Tyson and maybe Holyfield and Mayweather...not many would know any at all...let alone Mikkel Kessler or Winky Wright!!!
Any true boxing fan would know Kessler so whats your point???
Winky would piss his pants if he had to fight Kessler!!!
