Should there be a height limitation in every weight class?

Mhen , these days, a lot of tall bastards tends to squeeze their bodies to the limit just to be able to fight on lower weight classes and have huge height advantage. Examples are, Paul Williams ( too tall for a 147 Ibls at 6'2" ) , Valuev ( 6'11" at Heavyweight) , Celestino Caballero ( 5'10" at 122 )

What do you think guys? Is height really is MIGHT in boxing or skills still prevail over physical advantages?

Hearns-Leonard would never have happened if this was imposed.

No. However I think there should be a rule that you can't pass a certain weight after the original weigh in.

****** thread....height isnt a massive advantage like some people make it out to be

          look at leonard-hearns

a good inside fighter who has the stamina to stay on a tall guys chest the whole fight and work the body relentlessly will always beat a tall guy who likes to fight from a distance...i mean chagaev beat valuev, giving up like a foot in height
quintana beat a 6''2 williams the first time they fought

mayweather beat de la hoya who was a good 3 or 4 inches taller

          a 5''7 roberto duran beat a 6''1 iran barkley

          countless more examples

the thing that annoys me though, is that naturally bigger guys like williams are able to cut down to 147 or whatever weight and then gain some weight back before the fight which gives them a size advantage, so same day weigh ins need to be brought back in...
then you wouldnt get 6''2 welters anyway....but its not the height thats an issue, its the extra weight

I think its a fair idea. Some freaks gain too much weight in-between fights which I think is too unfair. It thrashes the very meaning of weigh-in and weight limits

Of course not. A shorter armed boxer who is able to get inside usually turns the fight to his advantage.

or maybe that would work too.

depending on the weight class of course

say a flyweight outweighed his opponent by 15-20 pounds on fight night, unless the smaller guy was a magnificent boxer that spells trouble between two ripped evenly matched athletes

but say a cruiserweight outweighed his opponent by the same amount, its not as big a deal

so different weight classes should have different restrictions on how much the fighters can put on between weigh in and fight night

Boxers might respond to this by continuing to dehydrate themselves right up until fight night. And they would probably fast/and or continue to exercise without consuming enough fluids in order to keep the weight and their (real or imagined) advantage.

In short, it might produce medically dangerous situations.
