They are.. but it's been like that for a while now. And there is American heavyweights.. they are just not good enough to compete with the towers that are in the sport today.

right, because all the big kids go to other sports. What's left over is the **** we see today.

Scoop Jackson is a ****ing idiot. He once said it was easier for black men to make the NBA than to become a writer like himself. He is trash. I doubt that he even follows boxing.

Andre Dirrel has potential to be a big star. He has the looks, the skills and can general speak well which most boxers of any race have a hard time doing.

i dont know if you are reading me at all

In my opinion, people say the world is "evening out" but the world has always had a presence in boxing, if eastern europeans could have fought during the soviet era pro, wed see alot of great white champions in the hall of fame from that era

Scoop maybe an idiot, but looking at how many successful black basketball players there are right now, and I think he has a point.

the big reasons for lack of Black Boxers have been named already since Football and basketball have taken away a fair percentage of potential athletes who could have became boxers

but consider the money aspect, as this came up already but some of the football, basketball and even baseball contracts are worth an insane amount of money.

Mayweather apparently made $20 or so Million for the DLH fight

but a superstar NBA player could get that much in 1-2 years.

heck someone named a $60 Mill contract, I've seen double that .. heck look what A-Rod makes .. over $200 mill

so factor in the better money for elite athletes, with less of a risk and it's almost a no brainer why a black athlete would chose basketball or football over boxing.

heck this article only named 6 or 7 high level Black boxers (Rahman, Hopkins, Campbell, Taylor, Toney, Mayweather)

but I can name 2x the pro NBA or NFL players, and I bet they make a heck of a lot more then the boxers do.

They've got plenty of fighters, they are no where near as bad as baseball. Like some of you said, they are just trying to make something out of nothing.
