I'd say it's about the same.. they prob lift more weights.
Boxers train more for endurance and resistance so they could go 12 rounds though so I would say the boxer has the edge.

I think ot all depends on the individual athlete. For any sport

Many, many years of boxing.........several years of mma. The sport doesn't set the standard of which is more intence. The "individual" training in either sport does. You decide how hard you want to train. Actual competition, well I would have to go with boxing. When your tired in the boxing ring you have no where to run. It is relentless and the constant thuding and pounding just effects you for a longer time overall.
Most punches in mma due to the gloves effect the fighter differently. Less internal damage due to quick stoppage when hit with one devestating punch. If you choose to take it to the ground you have the opportunity to rest when either on top or bottom. As far as you guys out there disrespecting the mma fight game.....don't knock it unless you tried it. The best boxers in the world put in the cage would get whooped! The best mma fighters in the world fighting in the boxing ring would get whooped. respect both!

hell no mma fighters don't train as hard as boxers. championship level boxers do mad roadwork to get their bodies in peak condition so they can fight twelve 3 minute rounds.

mma fighters only fight 3 five minute rounds and while they're rolling on the ground they can get plenty of rest.

MMA fighters just lift a lot of weights and have bad stamina.

Boxers usually have personal strength and speed trainers, on top of the usual training.

I've seen Tim Sylvia's workout routine and hopkins, Pacquiao Jones workouts all trump his - like 2 times as much work.

A lot of MMA fighters are muscle bound but a lot of boxers are more cut.

As an mma fighter let me clear this up. IT DEPENDS ON THE FIGHTER AND THEIR STYLE!!! The training in the 2 sports are very different so it depends on your perspective on what is hard or not.

Alot of mma fighters having a extensive background in jiujitsu do not run as much as boxers but have just as good cardio if not better than boxers.

In boxing there are guys like hatton and hopkins who like to clinch and muscle dudes and are effective at quickly wearing down even the most conditioned boxers. Now imagine gettin lifted 6ft in the air, slammed on your back then having to defend punches and elbows from a guy whose full bodyweight is on you all while trying to get back on your feet. It'll gas out any1 pretty quickly to exert that much force out of your body. And for your troubles...once you get back up you go right back to trading blows. And dont get in a clinch again or you'll be right back where you started. Even the slickest dudes in the boxing world get in 10 or more clinches per 12 rd fight.
