  • Eddie Chambers calls out David Haye

“Fast” Eddie Chambers to new heavyweight: HEY DAVID WHAT THE HAYE ARE YOU TALKING? FIGHT ME!!

As 2008 winds down and head into the fall months, heavyweight, “Fast” Eddie Chambers is looking for bigger & better things to close out the year and get right back in the mix of the elite in the division..

Team Chambers which consists of Manager/Trainer, Rob Murray Sr., co-Promoter Rob Murray Jr. of Score America, Dan Goossen and Eddie himself have thrown down the gauntlet and want to fight anyone & everyone in attempt to win the heavyweight championship of the world.

Chambers is coming off an explosive sixth round stoppage over Rapheal Butler in The Cayman Islands on June 20th feels left out as other less-deserving heavyweight’s have been getting opportunities.

“One loss and he is forgotten” said Murray Jr. “We were watching an ESPN-2 show a few weeks ago and they mentioned that Brian Minto & Kevin Johnson were two of the top five American Heavyweights but Eddie’s name wasn’t on the list. Come on now, Minto couldn’t hit Eddie with a handful of rice.”

The elder Murray agreed and the longtime Philadelphia boxing man has some lofty praise for Chambers, “I started Bernard Hopkins and I managed (former Super Middleweight champion) Steve Little and Eddie has more natural talent than anyone I have managed.”

“We want to fight anyone, anywhere.”

Chambers, 31-1 with seventeen knockouts is looking to fight only the best competition. “I see guys like Ruiz, Valuev, Toney & Barrett getting opportunity after opportunity and that shuts out guys like me who lost one fight that I know I could have and should have won,” said the world ranked Chambers.

“I see a guy like David Haye is coming to heavyweight and already talking like he is something kind of special. I would love to be opposite of you when you make that heavyweight debut in England and you will be shocked that you aren’t even close to being the best and fastest in the ring that night.”

I would love to see this matchup!

Chambers would have stopped Povetkin if he kept fighting and there was nothing wrong with him. I guess that atmosphere most have got to him becuase he was completely schooling Povetkin before he gave up hope. He was out boxing him from the outside and was landing huge right hands.

As for this fight, Chambers doesn't need to fight Haye becuase he would surely lose. He needs to try to get down to cruiserweight becuase he can be pretty dominate down there. Haye would be too much for him.

Chambers looked impressive at first, but he became overwhelmed by the tougher, hungrier, busier Povetkin....Chambers went into a shell in the later rounds because he was hurt and he didn't have the heart or toughness to trade with Povetkin.

Chambers definitely has the skill, but he dosen't have the will....That's the problem with American fighters...they have gone soft and from living in an easy laid back country and they don't have the hunger or determination anymore.

Chambers wasn't schooling Povetkin - it was probably the other way around by the end of the fight.

Povetkin said afterwards he was surprised at Chambers power, he was expecting another Chris Byrd. Chambers "ear-muffs" defense was impossible to penetrate with Povetkin's normal style, so he adapted and started throwing three-punch combinations and began to break through. Chambers wasn't used to getting hit that much, so stopped counter-punching and withdrew into a "turtle-shell" of sorts.

Sasha had the flu that night - he had a fever, and was sweating a lot in the later rounds, although his stamina was okay. In the later rounds against Byrd, he never showed a drop of sweat. The Chambers fight would have been more one-sided if Sasha had been 100%.

I think Chambers would have a very good chance of beating Haye....Chambers has fast hands, great defense and underrated power...I can see Chambers knocking out the glass chinned vulnerable Haye.

....Chambers would smoke Haye easily. Haye won't be taking any kind of dangerous fight at heavy before he campaigns for a title shot. He's going to KO one bum and annoint himself as the man at heavyweight. lol lol

Yes, because Chambers is a very good defensive fighter who wouldn't get knocked out early.

By the middle rounds, Haye would tire and then Chambers, who has more power than a lot of people think, would likely knock him out.

He's talking about Chambers, not Povetkin.
