what a joke that post was. williams caught margarito on an off night but he got schooled by quintana? williams excuse of having to drain over 15 pounds the week of the fight is more legitimate cuz he ko'd quintana in the first round of their rematch. Williams is the best fighter at welterweight even though I disagree with him being there as he is too tall for all the welterweights at 6'3.

All the top WWs have lost to eachother. Williams lost to Quintana, Quintana lost to Williams and Cotto, Cotto lost to Marg, Marg lost to Williams, Shane lost to Cotto....

      ahhhhh what a ***in mess!

What's funny is that Boxrec has Mosley as #2 and Cotto at #4

^^ no plain and basic common sense

Beating the top guy at welter puts you on the top spot.

It's just plain and basic common sense.

As good a fighter WIlliams is... he's not the top welter.

And I can't imagine who the ****s are who voted for Williams.

        Williams is an elite.. yes.

But he's not the top guy.

margarito was caught off guard you say

and paul williams was at his best in the first quintana fight?

also he destroyed quintana in 1 round in the rematch

I am a Margarito and Cotto fan both are fun fighters to watch.

Paul Williams is number one, he as beat every opponent he has faced, what more can you ask for? Though it did take two fights against Quintana I would say a first round KO redeems him very well.

Margarito could probably beat Williams, but he didn't end of story.

Now if you were to say who is the most talented that is obviously Cotto.

Williams technically beat the kingpin if we are now considering Margarito the king pin.

Clottey - Margarito caught him on an off night (two broken hands)

But then again, I think that loss to Williams keeps him from being the top guy as well.

Margarito has the much better resume, but Williams has the head-to-head win.

I think that the best welterweight spot is vacant until they rematch.

Anyone who does say Williams is #1 right now is wrong though... if you had to give it someone, I'd say Margarito moreso than Williams, and I say that because Williams didn't really dominate to the point that Margarito was vanquished. Williams won a decision, but looked like the fighter who had taken the beating because Margarito came on very strong late.
