        The best is Margarito.

Williams has a longer reach than most heavyweights at 81", and that gives him a big advantage over the welterweights. But based on 2008 performances, Margarito is clearly the best.

        1. Margarito
        2. Cotto
        3. Williams

There is no best Welter now. It is a scrum..........

Seriously Margarito claimed he beat Williams on fight night if he wants to be the real champion of Welter he needs to go prove that Paul Williams is not the better fighter. Until he proves this or Paul Williams disapeers his claim is weak at best.

i gotta say it's Paul Williams by default, seeing as he actually beat Margarito
I agree. I can't call Margo the best in the division until he beats Williams. Williams did prove that he had an off night: 12 rd decision compared to a 1st round annihilation

so you're going to discredit Williams because of his reach? C'mon man. And why would you just base it on 2008 performances? And for the record although I'm a fan of Cotto why would you rank him above Williams after getting brutaly tko'd?!? Williams clearly beat Margarito, so I can't consider him better until he proves otherwise

                    My guess would be because...

The fight that happened at 147 was a no contest, and the Margarito loss was at 154, making it a non-factor in WW rankings.
