Toney's a great fighter also. What's your point?
The point is that beating just one guy in a higher division isn't impressive at all when there is another guy out there, from the same era who basically started at the same weight who is beating more heavyweights.

    DLH 6 division champion>>>>>Floyd.

Only since you like to shoot off about Floyds 5 divisions.

Oscar>>>Floyd in all aspects of boxing. Taking on the best, having memorable fights against the best fighters, bigger star in the sport and best of all

    $$$$$ by the tons.

No, that is making a brief stop without fighting the best. This isn't splitting hairs, its fact.

      • The summit was always defined. Years before it was reached.
And reaching it and accomplishing it was a huge challenge in itself. One that few fighters will ever achieve.
        If you don't like it

I never had a problem with him taking the Oscar fight. My problem is him not making the tougher fights, yet calling himself the best.

      • Floyd get a free pass to go and do what others can't.
Because he's one of the few that can.

      • This statement here show just how unobjective and biased you are when it comes to Floyd. You believe its ok that exceptions be made for him, but other should jump thru hoops.

When the Margaritos and Cottos of boxing have won titles in 5 weightclasses, let me know.
The Margarito's the Cotto's and the Williams' are fighting the best in their division and proving themselves. They aren't just holding a paper title hostage and looking for the most money. And before you say anything about Floyd being the Lineal champ....a championship holds no value unless you've beaten the best fighters. He clearly has not done that at 147, and outside of Oscar has not fought anyone at 154.

      • I called Floyd a artist. A different breed of fighter.
You get 1 or 2 of them in every era if you're lucky.
What in your opinion determines a different breed of fighter? How can you distinguish him as a different breed without fighting at least some of the best fightetrs in his own division? Jones did it. Pea, Hop and others as well. Floyd hasn't.

      • A title fight @ 160lb is just as big a challenge as Antonio Margarito @ 147lb
So if Floyd came out of retirement and pursued that, I'd support it.

      • No, its not. Its a built in excuse if he loses. He would have no excuses at 147.

        I'd support either fight.
Let him do some work at 147 and I'll support an attempt at 160. Till then its a load of crap.

I am factoring the circumstances into the equation.
        How about these circumstances.

Since leaving 135, Floyd has not fought the best fighter in any division.

Who was the best fighter @ 140 in your opinion?

Who was the best fighter @ 147 in your opinion?

              [QUOTE=TCN® SOULJAH;3859769][center]
Jones was @ 175 for years to clear it out.

And he was physically built for those divisions.

              That's the difference.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has a jr. welterweight frame.

Floyd is no smaller than than Cotto, Mosely, Judah or Clottey. Jones was almost always the shorter, slighter fighter at 175.
As far as how long it took him to clear it out.....what does that matter? He cleared it out, thats all that matters.

Floyd hasn't fought any of the best fighters in the last 3 divisions he was in?

140-certainly wasn't Corley, Brusseles or Gatti.
147-certainly wasn't Baldomir, Judah, or Hatton
                    154-certainly wasn't De La Hoya.

First off, those weren't my words. Second, its a fact that he didn't face the best fighters at welter, even after he told one of them he would. Nothing you can say will change this.
