So Cotto quit?..

i think i seen cotto shake his head "no" towards his uncle in the fight. i cant be sure as i havent seen it since it aired live...
if he did shake his head "no" i dont think it was like, "no dont stop it" but more like he was upset that the fight was over and that he understood it was time to stop.
i dont know for sure...we'd have to get a youtube clip up and see it for ourselves.
my honest opinion is he took the knee the first time to try and pull himself together...that was the first knockdown...
i believe the second knockdown was his leg giving out (when he ducked a margarito punch) because he looked like he wasnt ready to give up until he saw his uncle on the ring steps...
just my opinion.Comment

T-97 has showd video proof that this isn't the case. It not even arguable. Taking a knee is not quiting. And anyone can interpet head nodding anyway they woukld like. For instance....say miguel shakes his head no. You may see it as a sign of resignation. How do you know his uncle was asking him if he wanted him to throw the towel in? You don't. Say Miguel shakes his head yes. How do you know his uncle didn't just ask him "do you want to keep going"? You don't. You are interpeting it for your own agenda. Any way you look at it though, you can't escape what the video clearly shows. Cotto did not quit.Comment

I started the thread showing Cotto shaking his head to Evangelista and interpretting it as meaning he couldnt go on.
This was based on the UK Setanta Sports coverage and NOT the HBO coverage which you have used. I have to say your camera angles seem to be more conclusive than those used on Setanta and given the facts presented as they are I have no choice but to concur with your opinion.
The widescreen view of Cotto looking at the ref is enough alone to dispute the close up of Cotto shaking his head at the same time.
Fair play mate, i certainly dont mind admitting I was wrong when the evidence is this strong.Comment

The first time he went down he was caught with a flush left uppercut, followed by a right as he was going down, then a little tap when he was down.
The second one, Cotto didn't get hit he just fell into the corner, I admitt,Comment

Taking a knee is an indication of wanting to take a break or wanting out. The first knee can be said he was looking for a break. The second one immediately after says he knows he can't handle the pressure. There wasn't any slip of any foot. His shoes were designed to avoid slippage. He took a knee because he couldn't handle Margarito any more. I don't blame him, he was taking a brutal beating at that point and wanted to live for another day and fight. He quit. It doesn't alter my view of him though. Hes proved his toughness to me.T-97 has showd video proof that this isn't the case. It not even arguable. Taking a knee is not quiting. He just can't and won't ever beat Antonio Margarito.Comment
