DID THE FIRST number of ROUNDS EXPOSE MARGARITO MORE THAN THOUGHT?

I dont think it exposed Margarito because it was already known that he could be badly outboxed. Clottey and Williams showed that in the early rounds.

The questions when it comes to fighting Margarito become,

-Can you put enough rounds in the bank before Marg comes around
-Can you hurt him so that when he comes around its not as steady
-Are you durable enough to take it when he does come around.

Margarito doesn't get hit as much as you people make it seem, this was the most I've seen people land cleanly on Margarito in all of the fights I've seen him in. Tony does an excellent job at parrying punches with his gloves absorbing the punishment. It just so happend that he had a low guard to cover his midsection against an excellent body puncher who happens to be almost 4" shorter than him and a very quick and good combination puncher in Cotto.

i gotta say a) awesome fight lol and b) after 6 rounds i thought cotto was gonna walk it but then margo started cutting off the ring better but i cant really think of many boxers who could have taken that many big shots square on the jaw without goin down, and i got much respect for doing it, any other boxer in there with cotto fighting like that and he gets KOd before the 9th lol

marg is my new hero when it comes to having a boulder for a head! lol

Yup the man trusts his chin and with damn good reason.

Thank god your no trainer.. who in the hell would tell him to do that?

How about cotto gets the round won and avoids margo... something like what mayweather does but stronger and a lil less speed and footmovement..

              You gotta think man.
Yes he needs to move less. You couldn't tell all the movement that he is not used to doing in other fights sparing exeter caused him to tire even quicker. Stick to weightlifting bud.

Thats the only one that has to be done.

You win the rounds and avoid being hit the rest of them... winning a fight which in the end looks like no one has even fought...

lol sounds boring but he.. margo's chin is too strong.

                boxers that can do that:

                Mayweather
                Cotto *(in rematch)*

I can honestly say that i have NEVER seen anyone that can sustain such stamina along with the workrate that Tony has. Even in between rounds, he looked as if he was anxious to get back to fighting.

1 - Cotto is the best combo puncher in division with the most accuracy (yeah I know about Floyd but he's retired and only pot shots)
2 - Cotto throws to the body the best with the exception of maybe Margarito
3 - Margarito decided to throw over 100 punches a round and mostly to the body against a prolific counter puncher.

When you consider all those factors you can understand why Margarito got hit more than usual.

And Cotto did not run out of stamina. Margarito ran him out of the ring.

You can run 10 miles a day but you're not getting hit to the ribs and chest while doing it.

Although i agree that it is the only way to successfully beat Tony, i dont think the judges will go for a fighter putting 7 in the bank, then running for the last 5. See DLH/Tito. Personally, i had Oscar winning 7rounds to 5.
