The truth? well i guess only Hatton knows.
There was a poll made after the fight and even the British posters agreed the ref stepped in at the wrong time.Hatton was in a "world of bother",he wasn't throwing any punches and was trying to hold for dear life.Of course the British commentators are not going to pick up on it when it is Hatton in the ring with a Mexican fighter who was suppose to be a tune up fight. Why would they want to bad mouth there ref? I think you are the one influenced by the comentary because when I seen the Hatton-Mayweather fight they were going crazy everytime Cortez was near Hatton and not even splitting them up.The funny thing is after Mayweather layed Hatton on his back they said he was beat by the much better fighter but I guess you can't see that.

I don't deny that he got stunned. But really in trouble? Nope. Hatton flails a little when stunned. It has happened a few times. It's not like he purposely untied his fu**in laces , is it? The fact that his workrate was still the same in the final rounds was testimony to his stamina in my opinion. He hit lazcano with some really good punches that would have stopped alot of guys. Hatton dominated the fight and got stunned a couple times. No need to read into it any more than that. Lazcano has a good chin, like alot of mexican fighters. The careless remark was refering to Hatton-Mayweather when Ricky charged in and got caught by the "check hook". He was not tired at all in that fight, but was wobbled and zapped his legs when he got caught by a masterful , perfectly timed left hook. Even though there was not alot of power on it, the punch was effective due to the placement. If Cortez was not the ref that night, the odds would have been alot closer. Hatton would have not lost his cool, etc.. etc...

Billy Graham was sacked by Hatton, but even if they fell out it's hadly major news, fighters change trainers all the time, sometimes is works out better for them both Fighter gets a chance to have a diffrent prespective learn new things, trainer gets the chance to work with a new more hungry up and coming fighter.
