Rematch Analysis: Miguel Cotto Should Beat Margarito

As I saw it, Cotto allowed Margarito to press the fight against him. Cotto back-peddled most of the time and should not have done so. If he reviews his fight strategy against Marg and makes the proper adjustments, I think he can out point Marg the next time. He needs to be more aggressive towards Marg and not give him the edge mentally and physically.

yea but at the same time, cotto was dominating the fight. going into the 11th, i had cotto ahead by 6 points (i think i'm the only 1). whether he was hurting him or not, cotto was clearly outlanding him, and margo could've just as easily felt he was too far behind, and packed it in. he was clearly being beaten to the punch in a big way, plus his goal was to start fast, and that wasn't the case. so as far as i'm concerned, this fight boiled down to one fighter imposing his will on another, **** all the technicalities every1 wants to talk about, margo simply imposed his will, slowly but steadily over the course of the grueling matchup.........

but props to cotto too, he has a hell of a chin also. he was never knocked down, but the body shots and the broken nose pretty much decided it.

as i said many times already Cotto needs to regroup and fight other of the good fighters in the division before he even thinks about wanting to fight margarito again. if they were to fight again soon not only would margarito have the physical advantage but also the mental advantage going in because he would have doubts in his mind that he could hurt margarito. while margarito would be even more aggressive than he was last saturday

It's not impossible for Cotto to get a win over Margarito.

1. He needs to keep it in the center of the ring.

2. When backed into the ropes he needs to do the hold and turn technique. That way he can get some work done to the body while Margarito is temporarily backed up in the corner.

3. Clinch when Margarito gets on the inside. This frustrates the hell out of your opponent.

4. Holy **** there was just an earthquake. Had to go protect my HD TV from falling.

5. Avoid the uppercuts. This has always been an issue for Miguel. He's open up the middle.
