Or maybe he was tired from all the shots he took the first six rounds?

I swear, I don't know what fight people were watching. You'd think Margarito woke up in round 7 or something. I saw Cotto bleeding from the nose heavily and cut over his left eye after round TWO. And just because Jim Lampley wasn't talking about it doesn't mean Margarito wasn't landing. He landed thudding shuts ALL NIGHT LONG, not just in the second half of the fight.

This is exactly what I was telling my friends. After the end of the 2nd round I told them Cotto was hurt & wasn't gonna go the 12. They looked at me like I was crazy. It was pure punishment after the 2nd that Cotto received.

              Margarito's fists were Cotto's downfall.

It must have had some mental effect on Cotto, being able to land them combos on Marg and Marg just kept comning like it was just wind passing him LOL.I still give Cotto props for taking the fight though he could've done what a lot of other fighters did which was duck him. Didnt Cotto try and price himself out of the fight in the beginning? like Judah did??

Cotto has been nothing but class the whole time. He didn't try and price himself out he just wanted to make sure he made the money necessary for taking the risk he did. And even his corner has been classy, they made no excuses and are attributing the defeat to the massive amount of shots he took. When I rewatched it and could actually hear how loud and thudding Margarito was connecting downstairs (live all the people at my house were too loud, in fact I didn't know Lampley felt that Cotto won despite the knockout til yesterday).

cotto's downfall came from the outset when he clearly abandoned his patented body attack that until now has characterized his fighting style. he got too caught up on trying to outbox margarito instead of dishing out the same kind of body damage he obviously took himself.
