Margarito Would Consider a Miguel Cotto Rematch

WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito would consider a year-end rematch with Miguel Cotto. Margarito stopped Cotto in eleven grueling rounds last Saturday in Las Vegas. Co-manager Sergio Diaz says that Margarito is open to a rematch, but he doesn't think that Cotto will fight again until 2009. Cotto may need to rest, he was battered by Margarito during the course of the fight. He would later head to the hospital to close up several facial cuts. [details]

Tony always had my respect and he got a lotta other people's respect wit his win, but it all goes out the window if he don't fight Williams.

I think it would be crazy for them to fight again this year though I definately have nothing against it. Cotto needs to heal his nose and face, I believe Paul Williams and Margarito need to rematch. I have no doubt that Cotto could beat everyone else in the WW division, him and Tony will cross paths again, it just shouldn't be so soon.

I think he earned the option of an "easy" fight next...either Zab or Shane are easy fights for him..no disrespect for Mosley but he will get hurt too. I think the Williams fight is what most people want to see. In my case I wouldn't mind if he beat up on Oscar and sent his ass to retirement but he will never fight Margarito.

I'd give even more respect to Cotto if he wants to fight Margarito by the end of the year.

A Mosley fight can be interesting.

I don't really want to see a fight with Judah.

Cotto is a Champion and I know that given two months of rest, he'll demand a rematch with Margarito by the end of this year or early the next year. He'll give Margarito no chances this time and prepare his stamina more and will win by a clear decision next time.

Just a joke: If the fight is on Showtime I'll have Cotto KO Margarito in the 1st round (a la Quintana - Williams II, Torres - Holt II).

I would rather see a rematch more than anyother fight for these two. I feel cotto probably wants it today. so I wouldn't be surprised if rematch would be announced pretty soon. the fight had a lot of buzz and people who missed it won't miss the next. margarito will want to cash in and outside of mosley or cotto he won't. We all no De la won't fight him. And PW don't got any mainstream buzz. I think a clottey rematch would be fun but no money really be involved but will see.

cotto-margarito II will not make sense. oscar not fighting another mexican to end his career is oscar's way of saying he's afraid to get hurt and beaten in retirement. he want to end his career with a win, so he will choose a much smaller opponent in pacquiao.

but i bet oscar to win over margarito. oscar has tremendous left that could sent his opponent down. margarito is prone to get hit in the chin because his guard is open. oscar's most potent weapon is his left hook.

i hope oscar will fight margarito because marg deserve big money fight with his KO win against cotto.
