As mentioned earlier in this thread, how is declaring Margarito as far and away the leading candidate for Fighter of the Year NOT giving him credit.

        Oh wait...

This guy used to suck on Gayweather's balls for years.

And when Gayweather retired Donovan shut his mouth for a long time.
Dawg, you SERIOUSLY have me confused with someone else. From the moment 2007 became 2008, I've been pining for Mayweather to defend against a TRUE welterweight. I trashed him when he pulled that bull**** w/ the DLH-Forbes fight (forcing his uncle out of the fold), and said good riddance the moment he had his publicist release "his" retirement speech. Other than calling him 2007's Fighter of the Year, I'm going to need more proof than your word that there's even a shred of validity to this ignorant bull****.

        So yeah.

        His writeups are credible... Lols.

        Not.
a **** of a lot more than the gibberish you posted, for damn sure.

this was a termendous fight with both fighters landing bombs, there was back and forth action. Even when Cotto was hurt he would throw and land some heavy bombs. This was a classic...no doubt.
Some credibility was lost when the writer said this doesn't compare to the Vargas-Trinidad fight....come on now.

You guys are funny not everyone has to agree with you. No need to attack his opinion. If he were calling it a bad fight it'd be different.

I didn't see the fight live, and knew the outcome, so it probably took a lot away for me. I still thought it was a great fight, but I can see how someone would prefer others from this year over it.

There's no doubt it was a classic to me. Then again so was Marquez/Vasquez III, and to a lesser extent Casamayor/Katsidis.

Where did I say it doesn't compare? I said Trinidad-Vargas was better, that's all.

I've never had a problem with anyone challenging my opinion, or really any of my work in general. But damn, one thing I'd like to believe about myself to be true is that there's no hidden agenda behind what I write. So when people read one thing and decide it means something else... I don't know, I just don't have an answer for that, other than to laugh at those who claim I'm the one speaking with a pre-determined bias.

I'm not trying to attack your opinion, if you believe it was an alright fight thats ok with me, I personally think it was a classic fight.

This fight may not compare to classic Puerto Rico vs Mexico fights( I personally don't like the Mexico vs Puerto Rico talk), but you said Trinidad-Vargas was better, while I think this one was better....and by a large margin.(although Trinidad/Vargas probably will have more PPV sales, like you mentioned).

We are both boxing fans and can agree it was a good matchup and good for boxing.

no question on the last part. And I don't disagree with you on the PR-Mexico rivalry, and personally felt it was considerably overstated for this fight. If for no other reason, because Miguel Cotto was never that type of fighter. Trinidad was, he literally fought for his country and his people every time out. Cotto's learned to embrace it, but it's still two completely different personalities - and two completely different fighters, for that matter.

one more point of clarification, though - "alright" and "very good" are two very different things. this fight was unquestionably much better than alright, and i wouldn't dare limit it to such a description.

I don't care what anyone says, Chavez Jr. Vanda is hands down the fight of the year and round of the year. (9 or 10). I'm really sick of the media acting like this fight doesn't exist when naming FOTY candidates.
