    The Fight Was Great

this was a great fight, i cant believe people is talking **** about it, asking themselves was it good enough???

OF COURSE IT WAS, it was an amazing fight, miguel cotto is a great fighter and he could have won this fight, all he had to do was be a ****ing coward like FLOYD MAYWEATHER, but he decided he was going toe to toe with margarito, he connected margo with great shots, he got in great combos, but u know the man just wont go down.

i am mexican and in my personal opinion cotto should be respected because he chose to give a show instead of going for a win like a little ***** like floyd does.

oh and by the way VARGAS aint even mexican (Birth place Oxnard, CA, U.S.) so dont be ****ing putting loses on our country just because ethnicity, hahahahha VARGUITAS is from THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

This fight was great and had a awsome finish, I have no problem if this fight was to get fight of the year honors. Yes Izzy vs Raf III was amazing but this fight had huge buzz and mainstream attention.

And this fight was the biggest in Mexico since Chavez vs Camacho when it comes to the PR /Mexico rivalry. I don't know how well known Vargas was in Mexico at the time, he lived in Oxnard not Mexico city.

I agree completely with the article. The fight ended surprisingly and spectacularly, but it was hardly a true back and forth spectacle. In parts it was a bit slow and was for the most part simply a story of Cotto landing the better shots while backpedalling, with Margarito coming forward but often seeming ineffective. It was a good fight, no doubt, but not a truly great one.

I agree as well. Something was missing. I can't tell you what. This match somehow had a weird psychology. I don't know. Usually you tend to be for the smaller man. The smaller man was the favorite here so usually there is something going on with the underdog. But as the underdog started to came up it somehow made the impression of a big bully busting up a little kid. I think if Cotto in the 11th could have had one comeback and then would have knocked out it would have been better. I also think that it hurts that Cotto couldn't hurt him. If it would have been the typical slugger against boxer match up it's different. But Cotto is not a boxer. He can box but he's also more the destroyer. His punches landed flush but it never seem to bother Marga so it looks like two sluggers are pitted against each other and one of them is simply to strong. I mean I was unbias. I like them both but I could never take my eyes of Cotto... don't know why. Something was weird.

With that being said... I think it was a brutal fight. If it was a classic I don't know. But it was definitely worth the money. Two warriors laying it out as good as the could.

The author is also right about that whole ''if some1 is good you call him great'' thing. I never understood how some boxers are mentioned so highly. I understand their accomplishments, their popularity and fight style. But why some1 like Tito Trinidad is considered great is still a mystery to me.

not sure to whom you're referring with this part. if me, then you'll have to show proof where I've ever made mention of being anyone's Cotto fan.

I expect Margarito fans to hold the fight to that level. But in "giving credit where credit is due"... is it not enough that I named him 2008's Fighter of the Year to this point, and that it's going to take A LOT for someone to surpass him at this point? Or should I have went beyond that and name him Fighter of the Decade?

Mr Jake Donovan is prolly one of those idiots who parade themselves as critics and writers who made a bet on Cotto and now he whines like a rat.

Aren't American writers supposed to be unbiased and is duty bound to give credit where it is due?

                    Oh wait...

This guy used to suck on Gayweather's balls for years.

And when Gayweather retired Donovan shut his mouth for a long time.

                    So yeah.

                    His writeups are credible... Lols.

                    Not.

The match was more of a match than any of Gayweather's fights and add also his ducking.

Only idiots will whine about something was missing here and there but can't explain it.
