Fine. name a megafight in this division.

      The impending fights were FMJ-Cotto, FMJ-Goldie 2, cotto-Goldie, Cotto-SSM2. All gone.

name the fights are are remotely close in appeal to a broader boxing public.

I was just saying Williams and Cotto need to go at it, before a Margarito-Williams match-up is made. williams already beat Margarito if he beats Cotto then is the time for a matchup. If Cotto beats Williams it leaves three top guys who have all beaten each other.

Cotto doesn't make it past eight in a rematch.

Nine months ago, you had Mayweather, Cotto, hatton, margarito, Shane, Oscar(ish), Gomez, etc all campaigning at what seemed to be the deepest field in boxing.

Floyd is gone. Cotto will be taking the slow boat back. Margarito isn't that interesting. Berto is still green. Ricky went back to 140. Shane is old. Judah is, well, judah. Gomez got exposed. Ad infinitum.

What the hell has happened to this division??

What is the biggest (non-Oscar) fight that can be made at WW? Competively and commercially?
How can you make a statement like this? Margarito has captured the hearts and minds of boxing fans with his past 3 fights (Johnson, Cintron, Cotto) and will surely be in some other epic battles. Margarito against Williams, Berto, Mayorga, or even Mosley are worthwhile on paper...

Maybe not in an immediate rematch but in 12-18 months who's to say what will happen?

HARDCORE fans. Not the casual fan that signs on for a mainstream bout.

People on here kill me. We sit on this board for a coupla hours every day, and then we forget that we are the top 2% (or whatever) of fans. This board is not a representative sample.

Ask that general sports fan in your office "who fought this weekend?". See what he tells you.

You are talking about the Cintron fight, and that was the lowest rated WCB ever. Ev.Er.

If kermit Cintron and Golden Johnson walked into an ESPNZone together, would anyone know who they are?
