I think it was in poor taste what he did. 550K is very respectable money and a hella alot more than what other champs in lower divisions get. He has a problem with his own skills and shouldn't look towards a supposedly insulting offer as the reason for a retirement.

Golden Boy has been lowballing all of its fighters, they offered Kasim Ouma 50,000 to fight on an undercard of a PPV, before he lost his last couple fights. They said they were gonna straightened boxing out and do whats right but Ive seen the opposite since they came into the game, all they are about is putting money in their own pockets.
Lacy has looked like **** in three fights in a row. After a dubious win on ESPN2 (which he make 20K tops), he should be grateful for getting anywhere near that much money. If Lacy were to beat Taylor he'd become a major player again. Taylor is an HBO fighter and if he thinks he's going to get anywhere near what he is, he is a fool. I don't like GBP, but they have a right to realize a certain margin of profit from their promotion. Lacy has acting like a ****** ****** since the Calzaghe fight.

Maybe Taylor hasn't looked good since before Hopkins, but look at his opponents... B Hop twice, Winky, Kassim Ouma, Cory Spinks, and Pavlik twice. Say what you will about blown up Jr. Middleweights, but Jermain wasn't always 160 lbs. either. The point is that Lacy hasn't looked good since Pemberton, and so much of this game depends upon confidence in yourself. Calzaghe took more than a belt from Lacy... he removed any of the spirit that is needed for someone to become a world champion. Lacy isn't in a position to ask for a cent more money, and to think that he deserves as much or more than Taylor is absolutely ridiculous. Margarito's win and Lacy's retirement are proof that boxing is on the right track!
