I think this is simply Lacy's way of saying he doesn’t want to fight any longer because logically he has to know that was an incredible offer considering what he brings to the table at this point.

He had a good career (much better than most) and I wish him well.

Well if pay is performance related then I guess its only fair that his pay checks were getting smaller with each fight.

“if The Number Was Better Than What It Was, Yes, I Would Take The Fight With Jermain,” Lacy Said. “this Is A Fight Between Me And Jermain Taylor That Boxing Is Despearate For."

Lacy should take this offer - he'll likely never get another one as good.

His performance against Mendoza indicates he's not really a HBO calibre, world-class boxer anymore. He was lucky to win that decision.

I think he'd probably end up with about $350,000, but then the IRS would take a slice. I can understand his point, he wants the most he can get. If he'd been offered $500,000 and then, after his Mendoza fight, an extra $50,000, this seems to say that he's not much more of an attraction now, than he was before that fight, but perhaps a little.

The point is- as I used to say (when I ran my (always grumbling) hobby New Orleans Dixieland Band), he has to decide if he'd rather NOT fight for $750,000, or fight for $550,000.

His after fight interview showed him to be not overburdened with wits. I don't know anything about him so can't compare with pre and post Calzaghe.

Obviously you guys know nothing about boxing, 550,000 is an insult to Lacy. After he pays everybody he would be lucky to see 300,000. Fighters arnt looking at the total but what they will be left with, kinda like taking your net pay from your gross after taxes. Its an insult to Lacy. Golden Boy has been lowballing all of its fighters, they offered Kasim Ouma 50,000 to fight on an undercard of a PPV, before he lost his last couple fights. They said they were gonna straightened boxing out and do whats right but Ive seen the opposite since they came into the game, all they are about is putting money in their own pockets.

Lacy don't wanna accept journeyman status, but can't fight higher than that level anymore so he's walkin. Good for him. He deserves better than to turn into Holyfield.

I think that is only about 1,000 US dollars. Are you really sure you want to fight Jermain Taylor or Jeff Lacy for just $1,000?
