    Dear Puerto Rican Boxing Fans......

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sorry to. I've been a supporter of Miguel for a long time now and this is the 1st time I ever rooted against him. Margarito is a good guy and he deserves this.

Don't worry though. Cotto will be back and learn from this. I guarantee if they rematch Cotto will win. Margarito can't fight any better nor any different. Cotto will make the adjustments like not getting cornered on the ropes and clinching better instead of letting Marg tee off. He also will go forward more in the next one. Miguel needed to go in and out on Margarito and not just wait for Marg to come in. No worries Cotto is a better fighter than Antonio , tonight was just Margarito's night. Cotto still has a bright future ahead of him and wil be champion again for another 3-4 years.

    Two things though:

    1. Please never say Cotto was better than Trinidad. Cotto is a great fighter but Tito was something special.

    2. If you're not already on......please join me in pushing the Juan Manuel Lopez bandwagon. He is the future of Puerto Rican boxing and the Junior Featherweight and Featherweight divisions.

Viva Mexico and Viva Puerto Rico! It was a great fight by two very good , very tough fighters.

You have my respect men,, Im Puerto Rican and I live in my island, and everyone in here is dissapointed with the result, but there is Cotto for much time just waiting for the rematch, Cotto just only have to fix 2 problems, go more to the body and get off the ropes, with that plan Margarito's WBO champion days will be short.. but tonight Margarito fought a tremendous fight no doubt about but cotto will prevail in rematch

      Viva Puerto Rico!!

He'll be fine. He's young. He didn't make any mistakes that can't be fixed.

He'll have a belt at 147 by next year , maybe even take this one back if they rematch. I guarantee it.

Great thread Left Hook Tua, I agree with almost everything that you said, about Cotto coming back and winning a rematch if they fight again. Also you can count on me on helping you push the Juan Manuel Lopez bandwagon since I am a fan of his also. Thanks for this thread and like I have said before I am still a big fan of Cotto and his loss will not affect that since he is and will always be a champion in my eyes.

i'm a big fan of cotto as well. i only picked marg because of the situation.

cotto if he can recover mentally will be fine. he'll change his style a bit though so don't expect the exact same cotto in the future. he's 27. he can recover.

as far as juan manuel......the boy is a stud. i think he beats raf and izzy right now. raf and izzy took a lot out of each other and if they fight juan manuel now they are going to lose.

            VIVA JUAN MANUEL LOPEZ!!!!!!

Cotto should be able to bounce back. Arum's probably running his fingers through his face but...whatever.

I don't make excuses. Both Margarito and Cotto fought a great fight. Cotto pummeled Margarito with power punches to the head and in combinations, and Margarito showed why he is feared, the two attributes that absolutely showcased his worth: workrate and chin. He baffles me as to the strength of punches he absorbs and still keep going in without being rocked or wobbled, it's unbelievable.

I'm bummed out that Cotto lost, I was angry and upset. Everybody over here is silent and sad. But all emotions and pride aside, it was a classic fight and both fighters deserve tremendous credit. Cotto doesn't lose any respect, he fought well with the exception that is obvious and that has been stated several times: body-work and the ropes, he has to stay off those ropes. Margarito, good that he pulled off the victory in the fight he had long seeked. I look forward to seeing (and supporting) Margarito's future fights. He is one tough cabrón, and I mean that in a good way.

Much love for everyone, my fellow puertorricans and the mexicans alike, it was a great fight regardless.

Cotto will be fine. I think this fight is going to make him more 'mentally' stronger. Mark my words, he was winning the fight by 1 round in my scorecard. Congratulations to marg though!

                  Nice try but NO.....

Cotto QUIT, bottom line. I had respect for him and knew the beating he was taking and he took two knees and allowed his corner to stop the fight.

This was Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor all over again. Cotto was winning on points but was taking a beating from round 2 on.

Those body shots and uppercuts on the inside were hurting Cotto in way most people didn't see.

If they fight again, Margarito wins in under 8 rounds, nothing will change. Cotto can't go to the body because to throw to the body you have to drop your hands and that's not what Cotto wants.

Cotto threw everything and the kitchen sink against Marg and he NEVER hurt him...nothing will change in the future. Margarito broke his will, a real warrior gets KO'd out, not allows his corner to bail him out.

From a long time Margarito fan, Margarito was great but he could have done so much more, but he had to be patience and defencsive but man did he attack the body which really set it up for him to ko Cotto. Trust me, Margarito could have done a lot better. But very satisfied by Margaritos performance and Cotto put up a good fight. Margarito is just a MF badass!
