When I watched it live I had Cotto up by 2 points. Watched it again yesterday and had him up by 1 point.
I hate Margarito, but jesus wow

I'm rewatching it now, we'll see if it's the same. Like I said Margarito's punches were going threw Cotto's gloves and they were partialy blocked, while Cotto was landing cleanly and just as often. Margarito wasn't cutting off the ring and it wasn't effective agression.Comment

I had the fight even going into the 11th (5 rounds a piece; 95-95)
I thought cotto was the superior boxer but he didnt use it right for some reason.
He got too excited or something...same way he did with mosley at the end of their fight; he starts galloping (sp??) around the ring like a horse in the Kentucky Derby or something...
when he fought gomez he showcased his boxing skills but didnt "get on his bike" (so to speak)...i dont know why he got so anxious and pretty much skipped around the ring.
His mistakes (in my opinion) are:
he laid on the ropes
ran around the ring WAY TOO MUCH (it tired him out)
majority of the fight he headhunted(shouldve worked the body more than the head)
traded with margarito more than he should have...
he should have tied up margarito instead of moving around...he kept the fight high paced when if he tied him up it would have been a much slower fight.
dont get me wrong he did run alot but he also had his pride get in the way and would trade with margarito for a few combos...he shouldnt have done that...if he stuck STRICTLY to boxing he could have won a decision...not EASILY...but he could have done it.
As far as margarito theres not much he did wrong at all...he got tagged more than he should have...(kept coming in without the jab and going back out without the jab)...
but wow...after the first few rounds he really started to pick things up...i had margarito down 4 rounds to 1 round after 5 and then BOOM...he took off and won 4 rounds to 1 round of the 5th to 10th round. so i had it even and then cotto got stopped.
I believe Cotto really tried his best i just think his pride prevented him from boxing all 12 rounds like he should have...not trading but not running...
maybe there will be a rematch...maybe there wont...either way i think both fighters did a great job in there and im impressed by both fighters.Comment

You have to be crazy, Maragarito was not cutting off the ring? not effectively he was'nt but was after Cotto got tired of backtracking. Cotto has never had to fight going backwards. Effective agression...what does that mean? Margarito was the aggressor for most of the night, hence this is why Cotto was going backwards. IMO...Comment

My question to you is "in your opinion what makes a great champion?" going undefeated?Comment
