i gotta hand it to dirk though, he tries in here. the rest of calzaghe's fangirls just slap and run back to the limey lounge to talk about football when they're overwhelmed by reality.

Doesnt change the fact that Calzaghe's resume would've looked a lot better and he would've been given more exposure earlier if Hopkins hadn't ducked him.
it's hopkins fault calzaghe was in a different division fighting bums his entire career? look how carl froch and amir khan became popular very quickly. they fought the best, they fought in america against known fighters, and they didn't disgrace boxing with early stoppages. calzaghe couldn't even do 1 of those!

I say Calzaghe all the way. Hopkins wasn't in his prime, but neither Calzaghe was, altho younger.
Lots of noobs easily fall in love with Hopkins' tough guy attitude, but truth is that Calazaghe showed more heart, more quickness and more commitment to win than Hopkins. He's just more talented than B-Hop.

Same goes for Roy Jones: Jones tried to taunt Calzaghe, and Joe made pizza face of him. It happened when they both were past their prime: could've happened the same when both were in their prime.

I don't respect the commonplace "Calzaghe fought old guys".
Calzaghe fought old guys when he also was old: so the game was fair.

The only reason why Calzaghe didn't fight those champions earlier is because he didn't have an American promoter.
Calzaghe should have moved to US and settled there by the early 90's... Just like Amir Khan is doing, and Bute, and Lennox Lewis did. Instead he stayed in his little village in Wales, and that's what he got: fighting bums until the age of 34.

If you're not based in America, or fight for an American promoter, there's no way you're gonna fight the big names before you reach your 30s.

Overwhelmed by obnoxious Fat Yanks who do anything to deflect from the issue when they get overwhelmed by facts.

Why does Calzaghe have to do with Khan and Froch? I love how Fat Yanks group British fighers together.

Amir Khan was a celebrity when he turned pro. And in all honesty, Carl Froch would be in a similar position to Calzaghe had it not been for the Super Six tourney or the fact that Jermain Taylor had the balls to move up in weight and fight him unlike Hopkins with Calzaghe.

                    Calzaghe.

The Holy-Schmoly Trinity of Hopkins, Jones, and Toney has to be the most overrated trio in boxing history

Bum after bum after bum.... Roy was the only one with the stones to fight the other two.

HBO, rather than focusing on actual intangibles spent years shoving "Stats" down the open-mouthed, welcoming, brainless couch potato, known as the fat yank.
