if we were talking about stricly talent, and only talent... then the debate is a little closer... but the fact that ray fought EVERYONE, and put his skills on display against EVERYONE.... and floyd, didnt come close to doing that, floyd can never be uttered in the same sentence as ray

Floyd needs to face and beat someone like the winner of Cotto-Margarito for starters to erase any lasting doubts about his legacy. There's no denying his record is excellent, but under closer scrutiny remains not good enough to back his talk of surpassing the likes of SRR or even SRL for example, and it will remain just that, ... plain talk, until he does something more tangible about it, because at the moment, he frankly doesn't stack up with those guys who have proven their worth many times over against fellow greats. What's disappointing about all this is that he seems to possess the prodigious talent to enable him to accomplish far more than he has done, but somehow fell short of his true potential simply because he can't just get enough of himself and how good he is.

One can also argue that competition wasnt exactly top tier back then.

True, but I just hate going that far back to compare with guys of today. The BIGGEST issue I have with doing that is today's technology and the training a fighter puts themselves threw today compared to then. There is a lot to cover when comparing. I try not too. But SRR is a bad ass~!

What would you think if PBF did come back and faced the winner of this weekends fight and WON? Would it be a closer argument?
