It would be literally impossible for him to step it down.

He should be slowly upgrading his opponents. That's the way you bring a prospect along. Everyone pisses on Andre Berto, but he has always slowly but steadily raised his competition level. There is a happy medium between too fast and too slow. I've seen guys like Jacobs being used to having opponents fall apart in front of them go into shock the first time they get any resisitance. What he is doing now is like a kid repeating first grade every year.

It was his 8th fight. That was a completely normal level of opponent for an 8th fight. He's 21. He isn't Tyson, Vargas, or Gamboa... He's a normal, top level prospect. It is completely normal to not fight anyone with a prayer until fights 12-15.

People are comparing Berto and Jacobs at this point? Saying Berto has atleast stepped his comp level up,BERTO HAS HAD OVER 20 FIGHTS AND IS THE WBC CHAMP,JACOBS HAS HAD 8

His name isnt Yuriorkis Gamboa, who has had over 400 amateur fights, and won Olympic gold numerous times, yes,Jacobs has the skills to become a champ, and is blowing away his opposition, but it was only his 8th fight he fought a fighter with a 18-8(16KO) record, thats a step up in class from his other opponents,****,Vernon Forrest and Paul Williams fought the same guy,at this stage in his career thats a good opponent for only his 8th fight
Maybe when he gets over 10 fights he can step it up,but for now hes fine

Agreed. Give him some time. There's a difference between the "development" paths of JCC Jr. and a guy with 8 fights. Guys like Vargas, Reid and Gamboa (if he indeed gets a title fight in the next couple outings), are the exception, not the rule.

His latest opponent has lost his last 7 fights, 4 by knockout and was out of shape, he needs to get rounds under his belt at this stage of his career, 1 round blowouts aren't doing him any good anymore.

I'm not saying step him up against contenders or anyone like that but at least find someone that can give him some valuable rounds.

Has this guy got Roy Jones potential do you think? Or even Bernard Hopkins?
