he has less then 10 fights as a PRO and u expect him to step it up already?

Are you giving credit to Jacob's opponent? Because nobody is saying anything bad about Jacobs except that he is fighting only total stiffs. There really isn't two sides to that story.

          No problem.

He needs to get rounds under his belt, his record looks good with all his wins coming by way of knockout but it's against guys who have no pulse, he's not learning anything from these fights, I hope they don't try to pad his record and then step right into a big fight because that could ruin him.

I don't think it's fair to criticize a fighter that's been pro for less then a year. First off, fighting stiffs in your first year for a prospect is hardly unheard of, in fact, I'll say it's pretty damn normal. Second, none of us are in the gym with this guy, were not training him. For all we know his trainers know something about him that we don't. Maybe they see something that needs improvement before stepping up, maybe he has confidence issues, etc.

Let's give this young guy a bit more time before picking him apart.

He has less then 10 pro fights, he SHOULD be fighting tomato cans.

In the amatuers, you cannot respect the punch of an opponent. You can let hellacious blows bounce off your skull with no effect because of the head gear.

Jacobs needs to learn and respect the punch, and not be so impulsive offensively. It would senseless and careless to rush him into a big and have him get KO'd early and possibly ruin his entire menality

I'm not trying to discredit him man, it's not like he's picking his fights at this point. I just think that his management is doing him a disservice by bringing him along like this. Jacobs looks like he has the talent to take big steps, maybe even get a title fight a 16 months after turning pro like Oscar did. But the way they're doing him so far, it would be 5 or 6 years before he'd be title ready. Unless they all of a sudden start jumping him way up, and then he risks losing due to not getting enough work in.

But I'm not picking him apart, just his opposition. Jacobs is obviously a gifted fighter (with elephant ears ). But he isn't like Chavez Jr with no amateur background. Fighting these type of opponents does nothing for him except pad his record. There are plenty of mediocre opponents who could at least make him go a few rounds before folding up.
