Since when did people start caring about this fight? I'm out of the loop.
I guess the Roy Jones "nostalgia" factor is back.

Roy needs to hype this fight as much as possible for his retirement fund.
He knows as we know , he won't win , but this is his very last opportunity for a final big payday.

Roy isn't fighting for money, he has millions and he doesn't throw around money like mayweather. Roy clearly believes 100% that he will win the fight, saying Roy Jones isn't confident is just a ****** comment.

WHere did I say he wasn't confident?
Truth is Jones was shot at 36 so he aint gonna be much better at 40.
He hasn't faced anyone with a pulse in years whereas Calzaghe has been fighting top ten contenders and champions.

I agree that Jones hasn't fought good competition lately and Calzaghe has been fighting champions and contenders. But, as we all know styles make fights and i believe Calzaghe is a fight Roy can win at this stage.

IF that was so, and Roy didnt think he could win... whats the point of this? besides paying more sanctioning fees? EXACTLY.
I am very interested to see what Roy actually has left. I like him but Trinidad wasn't a test. Joe will be a better measure.

I agree with you on this one. I'm a big calzaghe fan, but i give jones a big chance of winning (Jones is one my favorite all time fighters). I think jones has a big chance with anyone who doesn't have power, like joe or winky. His weakness is his chin and the fear of getting kod again.

I hope jones wins. We'll get to have one of those ATG fighters in our generation that we'll be able to tell our kids and grandkids about.

I have been calling Roy Jones Jr. since day 1. There is something about Calz that doesn't click. Agaisnt TiTo Trinidad Roy toyed with TiTo and did not KO him out of pity. He had him a couple of times. Calz might be quicker, but Roy still got enough on his tank to beat Calz.

Some people in this forum has forgotten how good Roy really was or simply are to young to know. Back when B-Hop beated TiTo Trinidad, there were rumors and even talks of putting TiTo agaisnt Roy if he won. Back then, Roy would had had Tito for "a midnight snack".

The interesting thing is that the 2 weight fight seems to have been in Roys mind for a while, it begs the question of how bad Joes hand injury is?
there is a very good chance it is more to do with hyping the fight even more and getting even more $$$$$$ for them both. Its only been done once before and that was 20 years ago, too far back for a good few fans of each to remember.
I happen to think its a good idea and even more of a motivator for RJJ to try and turn back the clock.
Im looking forward to watching this if it happens for 2 titles.
