I have to admit that the fact he is considering changing trainers has suprised me. I never thought he would even think of leaving Billy Graham, Billy thinks of him as a son and they are really close.
Still, if he is looking for a 5 fight plan as he said prior to the Lazcano fight and wants to be successful during that period he seriously should consider it as what Floyd showed the world has already been emulated by Lazcano and if he fights someone with real power it could end up in the same KO result that Floyd handed him.

I agree, they have to work on that left hook and developing better defense on the outside if he wants to keep fighting.

IMO he should take a trip down memory lane to when he was defending his WBU belt against Ben Tackie. His defence and boxing skills were as good as they ever have been. Also he could do worse than take a leaf out of Micky Gomez's book, Hatton used to be all about putting his head on his opponents chest (like Micky) and going to war with his hands high round his ears.
Now it seems he is looking for the KO too quickly and too often which is why he is open to the punches we have discussed.

Yeah, he looked very good against Tackie.

I agree with you, Hatton used to be very good at find space on the inside to land his shots both to the body and the head, he can't seem to sustain his attack like he used to anymore, that's probably why he clinches as much as he does now.

I dont know if you (or any other poster) has noticed that in probably his last 4 or 5 fights he has had problems with his breathing, he can be seen between rounds either blowing snot from his nose or coughng phlegm, not sure what the associated problem may be (but he was cited as having a chest infection during training for Lazcano) maybe this is a contributory factor in his inability to sustain attacks like he used to?
I know age is a factor and Hatton, although not old, has been through the mill now and we musnt forget his Yo Yo weight issues, although he has always been the same throughout his career and until relatively recently it was never really an issue.

He's getting winded and tired much easier now, he used to be able to sustain a high intensity attack, throwing 70 to 80 punches a round without getting tired, even though he had a chest infection against Lazcano, it doesn't really explain why he gets tired in his other fights.

I think it's his weight fluctuations and bad habits outside of the ring, it was bound to catch up with him eventually.

I agree, its more than likely the cumulative effects of all the weight gain and loss that has finally taken its toll.

How can Pacquiao not carry his speed? he came to the Diaz fight at 147, we already know how quick he will be at 140.

Hatton is a lot faster than Diaz, who just made Manny seem so ridiculously quick.
