Joan Guzman v. Manny Pacquiao

guzman could give pac as much trouble as juan manuel.
if joan has a good chin he has a chance to win. if not......no matter how slick or good he is you know manny will eventually land something. manny has great hand speed.
valero would get ktfo by manny. it'd be exciting while it last though......Comment

He didn't break any fighters to pieces. The only fighter he tko'd was Morales.
Pacquiao fought like **** against Barrera, we knew Barrera was going to box but we didn't know Pacquiao was just going to wait on Barera all night long. Pacquiao for some reason knew not to rush in on old Barrera even though he beat him once, now thats funny.
Pac still can't crack Marquez so what you talking about nutty?Comment

Yeah I think you're right. If Guzman can't at least make Paquiao respect his punch, the slick boxing won't be enough. That's what happened to Tony Thompson against Wlad K.I have to see Valero in with some top comp before I can even think about him beating Pacquiao. But like you said, with his style it could be exciting.
against marquez or another counterpuncher type , it'd be boring.
but with an aggressive fighter like manny , his style would combine to make a great fight.Last edited by Left Hook Tua; 07-21-2008, 11:34 PM.Comment

Guzman is one of those weird guys that is tough as hell no matter what weight he will fight at. He also happens to combine incredible defense with a chin that is, like Toney etc, unbreakable. He has taken big flush shots during exchanges from guys like Soto and Barrios and not even blinked. Check out the second round, actually the whole fight, of Guzman vs Barrios. He takes some big punches in that and either keeps punching like nothing even hit him or drops his hands as if to say "What in gods name was that? Was that even meant to hurt?"
Pacquiao, despite being powerful and fast, will not be able to KO Guzman. He just has too much in both the defensive and toughness departments. It won't happen. Though if it did, I would be very, very, very shocked. Him knocking out Guzman would raise him hugely in my estimation.
Edit: It won't happen though.Last edited by BennyST; 07-21-2008, 11:57 PM.Comment

Yeah. So can we please stop talking about what he's gonna do at 140 or 147? Geezus Christ.
That's exactly what cherry-picking is; listening to some pseudo boxing fan tell me how Pacquiao has won titles in four divisions and yada, yada.
He beat the most mediocre champ in the division. How about he fight someone else (a little better, perhaps? Or am I asking for too much?) at 135 before we begin fantasizing about him fighting elsewhere? Floyd does **** like that and they say he's ducking the real challenges. Pacquiao does it? He's daring to be great.Comment
