I'd love to see this fight. But I don't think it will happen.

let me ask the most knowledgeable fans, the filipino fans this question: what does israel vazquez have to gain from beating up on an old man like penalosa? what has penalosa done to EARN this fight? listen, all penalosa wants to do is earn a big paycheck before his old ass retires. here are some of the most laughable things i've read from these very knowledgeable fans:

      1. penalosa beat de leon? when? where? how? weren't all 3 judges american? weren't the scores 119-109, 120-108 and 119-109? if it makes any of you feel any better we'll ask the judges to give penalosa 2 more rounds to try to make it like it wasn't such a rout. oh, by the way, i had the fight 117-111 for de leon. penalosa landed what, 5, 6 punches a round? people, you cannot win a world title with that kind of punch connect. but isn't it very odd that one of mexico's all-time WORSE champions almost shuts out the proclaimed all-time greatest ring technician from the philippines? hmmmm.

      2. mexican fighters didn't wanna mess with penalosa in the 90's? WHAT? during the 90's, orlando canizales (16 title defenses) was available. johnny tapia was available! paulie ayala was available. danny romero was available! not to mention jeff chandler, nana konadu. you mean to tell me they were all scared of penalosa? lol...in the early 2000's martin castillo and alexander munoz were also available. and please don't give me this that penalosa couldn't fight in the u.s. because he fought hipolito saucedo in 1997 in connecticut. after the fight he went right back to the philippines. also, if he had a hard time fighting top fighters why didn't the fight samson dutch boy gym 43-0 36 KO's of thailand? hmmm.

      3. the alleged "robberies" he was a victim of weren't robberies at all. in the first in-joo cho fight, the 3 judges were american. in the 2nd cho fight there were 2 american judges and 1 thai judge. in the masamori tokuyama fight all three judges were american. his first loss was to a journeyman filipino dude named samuel duran with a record of 34-7.

      4. you hope israel vazquez doesn't run? yeah right, he'd better bring his bicycle cause he'll be scared of a 5-6 punch counterpuncher! lol...WTF is that?

      5. penalosa was better than vazquez in his prime? when? where? how? penalosa is a good fighter and i'll give you that but to say he's better in his prime than the soon to be HOFer vazquez is stretching it a little bit too far! fact is this, everytime penalosa fought really good competition he lost (sans gonzalez). that's the truth. his boxing record doesn't lie!

      6. vazquez would quit on his stool? WHAT? do you really really think a 5-6 punch counterpuncher would make vazquez quit?

like i said, filipino fans are the most knowledgeable fans in the world that's why they make outrageous statements like this.

listen people, boxing is not some kind of welfare system. before he starts messing with the vazquez', marquez' and juanma's he'd should first defend his title against other than old ass thai fighters who he already ko'd earlier in his career. let's see, abner mares is waiting and so is silence mabuza. why won't he fight them? because the 5-6 punch counterpuncher wants a retirement welfare check. pretty pathetic if you ask me!

You're on crack. Izzy and De Leon would ****slap you themselves if they see what you've been posting here.

          1. Everybody knows that De Leon was undeservingly awarded the victory against Penalosa. De Leon threw 1300+- punches but most of them were air punches. He was the busier fighter but Penalosa was the one landing the quality punches. Quality over quantity.

          2. Too bad they didn't get to fight Gerry, and all you can do right now is assume. Consider them as lucky.

          3. He got robbed against Korean fighters. Similar to De Leon robbery.

          4. Both Vazquez's eyebrows cuts easy. He'll get blinded by his own blood. And Gerry will force him to run.

          5. Prime Larios knocked out prime Izzy. Having a great trilogy alone doesn't make anyone a HOFer. Izzy needs to accomplish more than that.

          6. Izzy quit while sitting on stool with a broken. Knowing that he's easy to hit, there's a great chance that he's gonna end up with a broken nose again against accurate puncher like Gerry.

I smell fear in you. You seem to be uncomfortable with Penalosa-Vazquez match up. Cuz you know Gerry would take Izzy's ass to school.

it would be very difficult but not impossible! after all gerry is FAR FAR FAR FAR more skilled than Vazquez!

i had gerry losing a close one to ponce de leon but i agree about the other loses! he did get robbed!

and i agree Vazquez is no HOFer! he is overrated!
and chances are he would get cut and outboxed for a while but penalosa is past his best and Vazquez thrives on fighting smaller, older, weaker opponents so i imagine he might be able to wear downt the smaller older man late on!

Regarding 2, 4, 5, and 6. There is no truth that Mexican fighters don't want to meess with Gerry. I disagree with the member who posted this. Vasquez is not a runner. Vasquez is the better fighter during their prime. No, Vasquez woul dnot quit on his stool

                    Regarding
                    1. I had Ponce beating Gerry. But there are boxing medias that scored it for Gerry P because Gerry was landing the cleaner punches.
                    2. The alleged robberies, why have you seen the fight to say those are legit wins by Gerry's opponents. In the John-Marquez fight, they were no Indonesians judges and you guys are crying robbery. There was a journalist from the Ring mag and Sweet Science, he scored it for Chris John. Koreans and Japanese(except a few) always fight in their hometown because they know that they have an advantage. If those were Mexicans losing, you would be crying robbery.

On the Gerry vs Israel fight, Vasquez will go forward and Gerry will counter punch but will not throw a lot. Vasquez by UD.
