      Margarito is too slow

Honestly... this fight is Cotto's to lose. He has the tools, the superior skills, etc.

Margarito has the chin and determination to make him show those to the end of the fight.

If Cotto loses, he will get his chin hurt, and either be KO'd, or get reluctant and cruise to a decision loss (like all of Naseem Hamed's opponents did).

If Margarito loses, it is because Cotto fought his fight and drew on his skills to outbox him.

The closer Cotto gets to a victory in this fight... the less exciting it will be. Take my word on that.

      Great Post.

I am just basing my deciding on the fact, that Cotto being a top level fighter. Should not lose to a fighter who fundamentally NOT on his level...!

Cotto should really outclass Margarito....(if he boxes)

Margarito has trouble with boxers....REAL TROUBLE..!!!

and being that cotto showed he can box.. I expect a Great performance from Cotto..!

As with Pavlik-Taylor II (I picked Taylor) and Vazquez-Marquez III (I picked Marquez), I am starting to regret picking Antonio Margarito...

I am SO undecided about this fight. I spoke too soon in placing bets, and the Warp one is just because he is my boy, and I would rather lose points to him than anyone else if I have to.

PM me your thoughts on Wright-Williams please, or make a thread... yeah, make a thread, so others can throw in their thoughts on the subject.

I think the Winky Wright Paul Williams Fight when be the same as the Taylor-Wright Fight...

          With Williams winning a UD.

Because Williams nor Winky have the power to knock each other out..!
and Winky isnt busy enough to win close rounds...

Williams is a ****ing Lunatic. Freak of Nature type fighter when he is focus.
If he had power, he would be the reincarnation of tommy hearns.

And Winky Wright is The perfect fighter to beat williams, if he was a busier fighter, Winky is great at taking away a fighters bread and butter punch.
          and he has sneaky Power.

Ultimatly I think Winky needs to open up alittle bit more and he would be able to beat Williams. But he doesnt so he wont.

          Williams win 7-5 UD

That's odd, because I thought Wright walked away with the Taylor fight. I didn't see those right hands get through the guard as many times as HBO said.

I can see Williams beating Wright though. His anti-style has been volume punchers.

Substandard fighters like Hernandez, Candelo and Soliman all made Wright look worse than he is, because he didn't have the KO power to get rid of them early.

Williams is better than them and can win it. I pray he won't though.

I think it's a 50/50 fight that either fighter could win. I'm definitely rooting for Margarito because I have been a big fan of his for a very long time. The reason I am willing to bet on him is because I think he has a very good chance to win, just as good as Cotto.

To me the key will be three things and they mainly hinge on Cotto, Conditioning, focus (to box and stay on his game plan), and chin/heart.

If Cotto can fight all fight (conditioning) mixing in between boxing and brawling(focus), but moving in and out while not letting Margarito set on his shot, and handle any big ones that do get through, I think Cotto wins an impressive UD.

To me though, those three things are key and I think at least one will fail him if not all three a slight bit, leading to big exchanges.

Conditioning is the biggest key IMO opinion because if he comes with what he had in the tank in the final quarter of the mosley fight he won't be able to keep moving and all 3 will be tested, in which case I think he gets stopped.

How can Antonio win this fight if he has no defense and is terrible outmatched on terms of quickness, agility, skill and overall talent?

From reading; it seems like everyone thinks Tony will get the win by a lucky random ass TKO.

Seems like everyone is trying to forget that Cotto is a boxing robot who's focused 200% in the fight. He doesn't bull**** or **** around.

Cotto has an unseen set of all around skills that will make it almost impossible for a one dimensional boxer like Tony to get the win.

I expect a very lop sided fight; smh @ people still doubting Cotto's ability and skill.

THE PUERTO RICO FACTOR IN VEGAS FIGHTS: CONDITIONING

Look, I know you are probably not a fan of Mayweather and you probably dont listen to **** his says. But Mayweather said something about Conditioning that few fighters listen too.

When Williams lose to Quintana where did he train..?
and the second time Williams didn't train there.!
When De la hoya lost to Floyd where did Oscar train?
and if Oscar would have had a rematch with Floyd he would of not trained there..!

                  Puerto Rico.!
Mayweather says all the time that Puerto Rico is not a good place to train simply because of the sea level and the air. And when fight time comes..
The air in America when cause the other fighter to get tired.

You made a great Point about Conditioning, and that being important for Cotto to win.

Cotto better hope he can adapt to the Vegas environment. Because if he doesn't. I feel that Margarito if he train properly will be able to take advantage of that. since he train on the ground level. and is Adjusted to the environment.

Oscar reason for tiring in his last 3 fights was not because he was out of shape. It was because he could not adjust to the environment.

This fight is in Las Vegas. Not New York. and the air and environment very different on the west coast. If cotto did not Prepare for this. I think Margarito will Knock him out in the late rounds. Because Cotto will be too tired. to box the way he needs too, in order to win.

Now that I think about it. If Cotto did not prepare for a 12 round pressure full fight. and learn new tactic's on how to fight Back wards. ( which he cant)

Cotto is in trouble in the late rounds of this fight.

It may just come down to that, but like I said in my original post, if Cotto does have it in him then I think he can win a UD, but I'm betting on him not being able to finish strong. My thinking is that there is no way in hell he undertrained for Mosley (because of the significance) and that late drop in energy was a conditioning issue he may not be able to improve upon.

Maybe Floyd's right and he needs some more altitude to push those lungs.
