I think George Foreman would destroy Marciano, and would've had a better chance vs Ali, if he had a better coaching and conditioning. If Foreman were to have today's Steward, I guarantee he would've beaten Ali.
Plus add in the big thing about how everyone in Africa shouted Kill Him and were behind Ali 100% ...it gave him an edge while he trained for the fight and I think if it would've taken place in Vegas, things would have been different.
I think the best white fighter was Willie Pep, personally. But you have guys like C.Basilio to think about as well as Lamotta. It definately wouldn't be anyone from after 1960
jack dempsey, his trainer doc kearns invented the peekaboo style that was used by frazier, patterson, tyson, marciano......i think that deserves some respect.Last edited by Stormin' Norman; 07-20-2008, 02:55 PM.Comment

Yea becaue Ali really owed a nation that at the time outcast him because of his skin colour. Tried to kill him, and he was once sent a dogs head before a fight along with a death threat because he was black..Best boxer ever:

Only lost once, to an all-time great, and avenged that loss several times.
He interrupted his career to go and fight in World War I. He was known as "The Fighting Marine." Unlike Muhammed Ali, he loved his country, and was willing to fight for it
He really owed the government a lot. Like he said
"No Vietcong never called me no ******"Comment

America chose Ali to represent her in the 1960 Olympics. After just one title fight win in 1964, he was on the cover of Time and Life magazines. He was given more attention and treated better by the media than any fighter in history.
America was very, very good to Ali. But he had no respect for his opponents, his wives (who he cheated on then abandoned), or for his country.Comment
