So lemme get this straight.. Floyd didn't fight Margarito cus he a bum right?

Floyd's only mistake was saying he won a legit title by beating zab. He was wrong about that, but beating baldy certified his stance which is why the espn friday night fights in room studio annoucner( i won't say his name) who got on his case for that short while... if we all remember can't say anything to floyd now but ...when are you going to fight cotto or margs? Floyd is the true unidsputed champ and here is why. Had floyd been able to keep all of the titles, and judah, and baldy, we wouldn't even be worrying about the belts, because guys would've had no choice but to fight each other to get a shot at floyd. But since the belts were stripped, you have bogus champions in margs and cotto. here's why:
Jab has lost lots of credibility that he can never get back. I'll tell you why. He believes Arum offered margs 8 mil to fight margs. The true number was 7 mil. He never corrected that.
Second, floyd mayweather didn't make 8 mil for a ppv fight i don't believe until he fought baldy...IF he made 8 mil. He made over 8 fighting hatton and dlh. If you check the time line, Arum's offer was bogus because margs was an unknown commodity, and when floyd fought gatti, he did not make 8 mil, so how could he guarantee 8 mil for floyd to fight an unknown margs in floyd's first welterweight fight. Floyd was already starting to break away from Arum. Arum did not act in the best interest of floyd which are floyd's own words, and at first said he didn't know why floyd didn't take the offer. He then called floyd scared of margs. Since when does a promotor call his own fighter scared? This would've been floyds first fight at welter. A fight against margs lol. Arum called floyd scared because floyd wanted to buy out his contract and do his own thing. He never even denied a fight with margs. Jab says margs asked floyd to his face. Now hearing that, sounds like he walked up into his face right? One man standing up, the other sitting down. lol Margs and his translator simply asked floyd why won't he fight him. Floyd explains clearly he respects margs and maybe later on down the line they can fight, but now i'm trying to do my own thing. He is not even a 147 lb fighter yet. Floyd gets 4 mil or close to it to fight mitchell instead.
Later in interviews, floyd said he fought all of the hard fights at 130, and 135. He felt like guys were getting in line to fight him at 147 RATHER than fighting each other. When margs beat cintron, he wasn't active fighting 3 times in like 2 years maybe. Floyd didn't become a welter until november 2005. What was margs doing? Asking Floyd for a fight, and he had the title. Floyd started the ball rolling at 147, and he was new to the weight.. Later on Margs and williams would follow the lead at 147. We are getting closer to a tommy hearns type opponent for floyd with margs and cotto. The time line is floyd avoided margs. Before that floyd wanted cotto at 140. They fed floyd bruseles and then gatti at 140. Gatti called floyd out. That is when floyd starts to call gatti a c level fighter if you all remember. Floyd was not going to fight margs in his FIRST fight at 147 let alone let Arum dictate who he should fight. Arum did not sit down with floyd, he just offered up margs. Floyd wanted cotto at 140, and cotto's people said not now.
Now as far as fighting at 147, wouldn't any promotor at least suggest getting used to the weight first? 7 lbs is a big jump. Floyd jumped into the castillo fight from 130 to 135, but he had already fought emmanuel augustus at 135, so he was used to the weight. Still he struggled with castillo who was strong. When he couldn't get any big fights or be paid the way he wanted, Floyd did not want to do any business with Arum anymore, and left arum in 2006 to get the big fights he wanted and to promote himself which is why many questioned his new found attitude of being the one you love to hate. It sold. Floyd wanted to go after the undisputed welterweight champion. He did that and won. Margs was not the undisputed welterweight champ. Just a bogus belt holder who had only beaten cintron in a fight we all saw cintron basically scared to fight. Margs and cotto now hold bogus belts at 147 because they did not beat the true champ in floyd. Floyd even won a bogus belt when judah was given a belt(ibf). When floyd finally fought baldy and beat him, he became the true champ(wbc).
What messed everything up was margs loving his WBO title he won from cintron, and titles bring stripped from baldy. Margs was inactive and fighting nobodies which is one of the reasons why floyd did not take the margs fight. Margs would later again beat cintron for the ibf bogus belt later on down the line. Why didn't Arum offer up margs to cotto who came maybe a year after floyd to 147 to fight HIS first welterweight fight against margs??? Margs was still champion with his WBO title. Again, floyd knew Arum was not acting in his best interest. Cotto fights quintana for a vacant bogus belt, and is never offered a margs fight until 2008. So what does this tell you? It tells any true fan that floyd never ducked anyone. Critics don't even say he ducked margs or cotto, just the fanatics. Why, because he is the true undisputed champ. Critics say floyd might not have cemented his legacy YET. Margs has asked why anyone won't fight him from floyd to shane to dlh so why is it that floyd ducked margs??? Because he was asked by margs in person, or as jab says, to his face lol. It's going to be hard for floyd to fight cotto or margs now as long as arum is in the picture. Floyd is suing Arum. Hopefully something will work out. Don't believe the hype until you do the math. Floyd explains this clearly.
Williams is the only other top guy holding a belt, and that is the wbo belt. Too many belts. Cotto and margs hold belts given to them by champs being stripped. I guess that is a part of boxing. Phant, all of this is in black and white, and this is why i discredit what jab says constantly on this subject. He wants to see floyd fight the best, and i don't blame him, but his lies have caught up with him.Comment

Mayweather vs. Arum: Business Very Personal
26.04.08 - By Michael Herron (M.I.C.): In the world of boxing, styles make fights, dollars make sense, and business is never personal. Well maybe the first two statements are true but as for the latter it appears that promoters and fighters have made business more personal than ever. How often do we read the latest headlines only to see that Golden Boy Promotions wont work with Top Rank, or Don King won’t work with Bob Arum, or Mayweather Promotions refuses to do business with DKP and Top Rank etc…Are these simply business decisions gone wrong, or are there indeed some very personal issues preventing desirable match-ups from happening? What is apparent is that these disputes seem to be heightened when it comes to Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Bob Arum.
Fortunately for boxing fans, Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions have “momentarily” settled their differences. As a result, great match-ups like Cotto vs. Mosley, Pacquiao vs. Barrera II, and Pacquiao vs. Marquez II have taken place. The disputes between De La Hoya and his former promoter seem to have finally been cleared away; the question that remains, however, is can Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Bob Arum make a similar agreement and give the fans the fights they want to see?
Arum’s recent comments at the Cotto/Gomez post-fight presser suggests that there is no progress being made between the two. His tirade included negative remarks such as, “Mayweather was a great fighter but is not a fighter anymore; that he didn’t deserve to be fighter of the year in 2007, that the media encourages his bad behavior like throwing money around in clubs and yelling F-Bombs.” Arum also asserted that “Mayweather is not good for the sport and after seeing Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto tonight, that he (out of fear) has probably taken a ticket to Mars.” In one aspect, Arum is simply promoting his two fighters and hyping their upcoming bout, but in another, he is clearly launching a smear campaign against Mayweather. These types of remarks do not bode well for future business and contractual agreements between their companies. In short, the comments were disrespectful and are guaranteed to set a potential Mayweather vs. Cotto fight back a few years, or even worse, prevent it from happening at all!
The source of the dispute stems from Mayweather’s time as a Top Rank fighter. Tim Smith from the Daily-News chronicles the initial fallout, contractual buyout, and eventual lawsuits filed between the two camps. Some of the finer points include:
Mayweather claims that Arum shortchanged him on matches against Arturo Gatti in 2005 and Zab Judah in 2006. In the lawsuit, Mayweather said he was due 85% of Top Rank's revenue from the Gatti fight and 80% from the Judah fight. He claims Arum has refused to turn over the records for accounting.
"There's no question we owe him some money," Arum said. "There's no dispute there. But he owes us a lot of money, and the people he's involved with owe us even more. After 98% of the money we owed him was paid, we stopped paying him for a reason.
"We're owed ... in the millions. We welcome this lawsuit. We wanted it to be filed. We have counterclaims and cross claims against certain other individuals involved with Mayweather.”
Arum and Mayweather parted ways in 2006 after Mayweather paid $750,000 to buy out his contract. That was triggered by Arum's refusal to guarantee Mayweather $20 million to fight Oscar De La Hoya, another Top Rank client, who successfully sued Arum to get out of his contract in 2001.
Mayweather believes that Arum stymied his career during the time that he was promoting both Mayweather and De La Hoya (from 1996-2001).
With the facts laid out so well, it is unnecessary to embellish the data. It is evident their dispute rages as a result of unresolved legal issues; money that is owed, fights that weren’t made, and respect that has been lost. Despite Arum’s attempt to sway public opinion, the data clearly disproves his claim that Mayweather is somehow “fearful” and is “ducking” Miguel Cotto. If anything, Mayweather is asserting his independence and is showing confidence in his newly acquired ability to do business with his interest, not Top Rank’s in mind.
As part of his smear campaign against Floyd, Arum often states that “Mayweather does not want to fight Cotto,” but he never quite confirms that “Cotto wants to fight Mayweather.” A better question would be does Arum truly want Mayweather to fight Cotto? If so, why hasn’t he made Floyd and offer? The 8 million dollar offer to fight Antonio Margarito in 2006 is well documented but where are the 10-20 million dollar proposals to fight Cotto? Could it be that Arum realizes the match-up is a potential lose-lose situation for Top Rank? Is the risk worth the reward? Mayweather will certainly gear all the pre-fight negotiations in his favor--from the money split, to the size of the ring, gloves, weight, location, etc...Also, it’s expected that Mayweather will not give Arum any options on future fights. Finally, if Cotto is soundly defeated, Top Rank loses their top prospect. His unblemished record will be gone, his aura of invincibility gone, and depending on how badly he is defeated, his market value will depreciate.
Knowing that he won’t get the upper hand at the negotiation table, Arum has resulted to insulting, criticizing, and feeding the fans “fearful” nonsense about Mayweather. It should be noted that he utilized these same tactics when De La Hoya left him in 2001. The role reversals have obviously been chipping away at his ego. According to Mayweather’s advisor Leonard Ellerbe, Arum’s “a bitter old man because Floyd outsmarted him,” the evidence suggest that this may be true. So as the flame war continues, it appears this very personal business battle will rage on indefinitely. It took Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank years to work together and it may likewise be the same with Mayweather Promotions. What is unmistakable however is that De La Hoya left Arum and has thrived, Mayweather left Arum and has thrived; would it be ironic if Cotto ultimately did the same? “The world awaits.”Comment

Again... ppl mixing facts with untruth...
First off... the first time the fight really was taken to May (against Marga) was after the Judah fight. As I remember it was 8 Million$ (that's what have been said... but you never know if it's true)
Floyd then became an offer to fight Baldomir... linear WW Champion, PPV and 8 Million and 1 $ (I don't know if it was a ***** slap to claim it, to show Marga what he's worth in their opinion).
So this is simple: Margarito= Alphabetical Champion, No PPV, 8 Million, and a man that ppl call bum afterwards.
Baldomir= Linear Champion, PPV, 8 Million 1 $ and man that ppl call bum afterwards... so I think even a blind man sees what makes more sense. As he fought Mitchell and Bruseless I can't remember that there was a serious offer on the table. And exspecially not 8 Million. After the Gatti fight, May wanted to fight Cotto and JWW, where Cotto was at that time. TopRank said no... he needs some years... so don't blame Floyd... he had his chance now he has to wait. On the way to the top you fight every1 but when you on top you call the shots. Mosley could have fought Floyd as he was at 135... Floyd wanted to, but Mosley don't... and Mosley was not scared... it was simply because a fight like that, with that risk... for that less money is not worth it... so Shane doesn't took it.
So everything is a kind of perspective if you see... why should Floyd fear Marga??? He fought a similar guy before in Corrales... and Corrales could punch harder then Marga... you ppl simple have to see that you live with a myth. At the state of his career Floyd was in, as Marga came around... Marga had no business to do with Floyd. And when ppl call Marga one of the best WW it's simply joke. He's a tough guy who is ugly to fight, that's all. You blame Floyd's ''bum record''??? The guys who are so called bums are now 2 that you counted is that right??? Marga has more losses against ''bums'' then Floyd has ever fought... so what are you guys talking about. Get the facts right... Margarito is a myth... if he's so scary do you think a guy like Cotto with a suspect chin would fight him. Paul Williams called him out. Clottey would have cashed his a$$ if his hand wouldn't have been broken... so who is Margarito to claim anything on May.
If the best boxer of your generation happens to be somewhere near your weight division every1 is calling him out. That's no news... do you think all the guys who wanted to fight Ray Leonard because they thought they could beat him? Even Hagler who was respected wanted to fight Ray Leonard badly... cuz it's about money, fame, recognition. Money, fame and recognition is the name of the game... Get over it... if Marga was in the position Corrales was at 2001 he would have fought him, he wasn't there... that's what you call bad luck...
If we would talk Cotto... alright... but Margarito??? Cotto is winning against good WW's... he has a claim to it if Floyd fights again... but Margarito??? C'mon... you must be kidding... don't let love fool youComment

Bob Arum and his staff are the best match-makers in boxing by far. Floyd knew that and Arum didn't like much Floyd, so he probably talked to his match-maker and said listen could Margarito really tear him up. He received a positive response and he offered a lot of money to Floyd so he could get humbled. Floyd was so scared he had to retire. Floyd retired because he didn't want to fight Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams, Mosley and Clottey. How could you be p4p #1 when you're not even #1 in your own division.Comment
