        A Brief History...

I know we hear lots of rumors. They said this on the countdown last night too.
        Two different sources. WHAT GIVES?

        Here is the story....

After the Judah fight, Mayweather paid $750K to buy himself out of the Top rank contract. It must be noted at this time that Arum had Mayweather, Cotto and margarito under contract at the same time, but made zero attempt to get any of the two of them into a ring together.

Anyway, after FMJ left Arum, Bob offered Floyd $8 mil to fight Margarito. Floyd essentially laughed at it, because he had just cemented his star status and didn't want to:
        a) do business with Bob Arum and/or Top Rank
        b) be under contract or give options to any promoter.

Mayweather and Ellerbe said that they had their own fanbase, and that the $8 million would be coming from their own pockets. Quote: how can someone who hasn't even fought for ONE million offer me EIGHT million?

Earlier that year, margarito had fought ******* Gomez in a half-empty room at the Aladdin. PPV sales? 30K PPV buys. No, I am not missing a zero. Thirty thousand.

So, Mayweather waited for the results of Baldomir/Gatti, but more importantly the results of Shane/Vargas (II). The huge buzz was that there was going to be a Floyd/Shane fight. Team Mayweather had an offer out to Shane for a fight in the fall. HBO had reserved the Nov 4th date for Floyd's PPV (presumably, vs. Shane).

Larry Merchant asked (a victorious) Shane if he would take the mayweather offer. Shane said "um, vacation...my tooth". Floyd was shocked. Team mayweather looked around and weighed their options. Baldomir had beaten Judah and gatti back-to-back. People were saying that Baldomir would be the biggest and strongest fighter than Floyd would face. Especially with a Delahoya payday in the balance. Thus, the name "Pretty Risky".

Consequently, Floyd hired Goossen as a freelance (one-off) promoter to work the Baldomir fight. Floyd agreed to a base of $8,000,001 plus a cut of PPV buys. Floyd made a total of eleven million for that fight. Most imporatantly to Team mayweather, they were controlling their own destiny.

The next fights? Thirty mil vs Oscar and twenty mil vs Hatton.

        THOSE ARE THE FACTS.

First off... the first time the fight really was taken to May (against Marga) was after the Judah fight. As I remember it was 8 Million$ (that's what have been said... but you never know if it's true)

Floyd then became an offer to fight Baldomir... linear WW Champion, PPV and 8 Million and 1 $ (I don't know if it was a ***** slap to claim it, to show Marga what he's worth in their opinion).

So this is simple: Margarito= Alphabetical Champion, No PPV, 8 Million, and a man that ppl call bum afterwards.
Baldomir= Linear Champion, PPV, 8 Million 1 $ and man that ppl call bum afterwards... so I think even a blind man sees what makes more sense. As he fought Mitchell and Bruseless I can't remember that there was a serious offer on the table. And exspecially not 8 Million. After the Gatti fight, May wanted to fight Cotto and JWW, where Cotto was at that time. TopRank said no... he needs some years... so don't blame Floyd... he had his chance now he has to wait. On the way to the top you fight every1 but when you on top you call the shots. Mosley could have fought Floyd as he was at 135... Floyd wanted to, but Mosley don't... and Mosley was not scared... it was simply because a fight like that, with that risk... for that less money is not worth it... so Shane doesn't took it.

So everything is a kind of perspective if you see... why should Floyd fear Marga??? He fought a similar guy before in Corrales... and Corrales could punch harder then Marga... you ppl simple have to see that you live with a myth. At the state of his career Floyd was in, as Marga came around... Marga had no business to do with Floyd. And when ppl call Marga one of the best WW it's simply joke. He's a tough guy who is ugly to fight, that's all. You blame Floyd's ''bum record''??? The guys who are so called bums are now 2 that you counted is that right??? Marga has more losses against ''bums'' then Floyd has ever fought... so what are you guys talking about. Get the facts right... Margarito is a myth... if he's so scary do you think a guy like Cotto with a suspect chin would fight him. Paul Williams called him out. Clottey would have cashed his a$$ if his hand wouldn't have been broken... so who is Margarito to claim anything on May.

If the best boxer of your generation happens to be somewhere near your weight division every1 is calling him out. That's no news... do you think all the guys who wanted to fight Ray Leonard because they thought they could beat him? Even Hagler who was respected wanted to fight Ray Leonard badly... cuz it's about money, fame, recognition. Money, fame and recognition is the name of the game... Get over it... if Marga was in the position Corrales was at 2001 he would have fought him, he wasn't there... that's what you call bad luck...

If we would talk Cotto... alright... but Margarito??? Cotto is winning against good WW's... he has a claim to it if Floyd fights again... but Margarito??? C'mon... you must be kidding... don't let love fool you
Margarito has been calling Mayweather out since 2005.
According to most Mayweather fans.. that's all it takes to get a fight with him...

No the facts are the Floyd turned down an 8 mil offer to fight a "bum" with a belt.
