You're right, Floyd clearly chose the wrong path there. Boxing's time does not stand still. Things evolve and in hindsight it's always easy to look back and make suggestions, despite how absurd some of the suggestions might be given what is actually occurring AT THAT TIME. Who knows why Floyd didn't fight him? Probably was looking for an easier path, and one that would bring some 'glory'. He beat Baldomir who was the lineal champion, Margarito was a tougher fight but was less known and only held the WBO belt.

Fact is, Floyd fans (flawless) like to say that Mayweather didn't fight Margarito because he was a "bum" they also say he is "all about the money".. but Mayweather fought bums with less then Margarito and he didn't fight him.

Why are you bringing Bruseles up? Floyd came their to fight a fight where Cotto would be there. It was part of a plan to see if that is a fight Cotto and his people wanted, and they quickly found out that the fight would best be fought at 147.
