Why didn't Arum go for Mikkel Kessler?

Pretend? For lack of a better expression, I have no horse in the race. I'm just trying to give you an American POV.It got less, so what does it matter?
It's like saying "you're better than a guy with a 21-13 record, you must be terrible!" If you were worse than that boxer, it would be bad, but if you're better than him, what the hell does it matter how good or bad he is?
In America there is a large Mexican population and a lot of Puerto Ricans. Among them are people who will watch their countrymen fight regardless of their opponents, especially when you have 2 Mexico vs PR fights in one night. However there is no large Danish population. California and Texas aren't full of Welshmen. So JC-MK is at a disadvantage already, yet still did better. That says something, and I'm not sure why you're trying so hard to pretend otherwise.Comment

Kessler - Pavlik leads to a Calzaghe fight just as much as Hopkins - Pavlik does
but really the whole situation is down to money and Kessler not being a big draw... i do think Kessler would beat him in a great fight thoughComment

Where was 24/7 for Slappy-Kessler?
(You see how I am asking you why there weren't any 24/7s for fights between Slappy and the top guy in the division, while you are asking me why there were no 24/7s for Jones vs. a bum, or Jones vs. a 4 year-layoff Trinidad.)Comment

Kessler did call out Pavlik. But I was thinking, if the deal was good enough, Kessler can fight anyone of the half-way decent 168er's of which there are plenty, in Denmark or anywhere and Europe and it would be a career high payday for them.
Why does **** have to go through Arum?
Kessler could fight Jurgen Brahmer, Froch, Inkin, maybe even Bute. Lots of quality guys to choose from. Anyone but Hausler but it sounds like he will lose his WBA strap if he doesn't fight him.
There's some good options at 168 besides Pavlik, Taylor, Lacy, etc.Comment

That's because they are the only Jones fights that there were.
Obviously Calzaghe is part of the reason that they are doing 24/7, otherwise they would've done it for Jones-Trinidad, no?Comment

You need a champion to sell the "once-proud warrior's last chance at glory" angle. You can believe what you want, fact is I live in America, and I can honestly tell you that the only people that have even heard of Calzaghe are boxing fans in the first place.Comment

Kessler wanted a belt. That's why he fought Sartison. As I've stated several times I believe it was a mistake NOT to take on Miranda who was (and still is) way overrated by the american public. Kessler wants to make it big in the US and the road he has taken is not the best to say the least IMO.
I think it's a blatant mismatch. But dont blame Kessler. Blame WBA for making this a swift mandatory.
The problem is that there has been a scandal in danish pro-boxing. The cruiserweight Johny Jensen has fought 2 times with a pretty significant braininjury. Of course noone takes the blame.
Mogens Palle, Kessler's manager has stated that he won't stage a fight with Haussler for fear of boxing getting banned here in Denmark. Tomorrow there's purse-offers. I cannot wait to hear the result of that TBH.Comment
