I'm still hoping for Pavlik to fight Paul Williams, it just makes so much sense and would be good for boxing.

Well we basically thought he was already done. Be happy you get to see him one more time.

I still view Pavlik as needing to make these sort of fights with skilled fighters to develop himself as a boxer and further his credibility. This to me is similar to Cotto/Mosley. And from Hopkin's perspective this might be the best fight he can make right now.

Way better deal for Pavlik, than if he fought Williams, IMO.

Gotcha. Hey I think Hopkins and Holyfield still have stuff in the tank. But I'd rather see them both retire than take any more unnecessary beatings .

I was just confused because in the one post, Pavlik was getting decisioned or stopped, and in the next, he says he's not saying Hopkins will win.

I'd prefer to see Williams win a title at 154 first, so the Pavlik fight would be bigger. I don't think Kelly would get any credit for beating him as it is, pretty much lose/lose. And a unification with Abraham would be a bigger fight right now.

170 pounds, it'll be interesting to see if Pavlik can carry that weight effectively, maybe he'll even come in a few pound underweight to keep some of his speed, win or lose, Hopkins will make him look horrible.

Good analysis. The only problem I have is unlike Mosley who I still enjoy watching in the ring, it pains me to watch Hopkins fight. No PPV for me.

I've been a fan of Bernard but it may be his bedtime. He's just too old and doesn't throw nearly enough to keep Pavlik off of him.

The thing is, unless Kelly stops him, which is very unlikely, he will end up looking like crap in the fight, win or lose. And that will hurt his marketability in the future, like it has Calzaghe's. Hell most people in the states are even thinking Roy Jones can beat him now.
