Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar de la Hoya at 147?

I read a article of roach saying the same thing, So what some of you guys are saying is that you want to see paquiao fight and older and past his prime fighter? Why? when theirs so many young fighters all the way from 130 to 140.All this talk about Manny should fight this guy and Manny shouldn't fight this guy and Roach disagreeing with Bob and Bob dismissing what Manny's team is saying and what Barrera advises Manny , anyone else thinks it's to set up an Oscar fight?
Now we're seeing all this reports coming from Freddie Roach about how Manny would knockout Oscar. Freddie doesn't really think Manny can ko a natural welterweight with a great chin.
Am I the only one that thinks all this talk is to set up an Oscar fight?
Manny is not the type that would call out anyone. Oscar can't fight Manny without reason because Manny is a smaller guy and Oscar has to play the good guy role.
Now if Manny's trainer is saying all this stuff doesn't Oscar have to respond? Wouldn't that response set up a possible fight?
Oscar needs an opponent. Hatton is set with Paulie. Cotto and Antonio are already fighting each other. Felix seems to not have any interest in a rematch. Wouldn't a fight with Manny be the most logical choice for Oscar right now?
Yes he is bigger but he is also older and past prime. Manny is the #1 p4p fighter in the world.
The biggest name against the best fighter. Who cares about Manny's chances. It might even be more competitive than we initially would think. It's not like Oscar is gonna bully him. Oscar will box him. Oscar doesn't want to look like he's pushing a little guy around.
All I'm saying is what other fights is out there for Oscar. Wouldn't you pay to see it? I would. Would you?Comment

Hehehe.. This is ******..
First Pac's team cannot demand De La Hoya to move his weight down to 147. DLH himself said that his body can no longer make WW, so if this fight will ever happen, which I doubted, it will be in the MW division..
Second, contrary to Roach's wishes, if this fight is goin' to be done at 147, which is the most realistic weight that this fight can be at least competitive, GB will not allow Pac to come in at 140 during weigh-in. Mayweather, who was the #1 PFP at that time, fought DLH at MW last year and there was a stipulation in the contract that PBF cannot be more than 2 lbs lower than 154. That being said, if GB can make that demand to PBF, what makes you think he will not do the same with Pac and Top Rank. If they want to fight at WW, then Pac must force his body to move up to 146/147 lbs, and not at 140. So at fight night, he will be weighing around 150-153 lbs, that will be a bloated and slow Pac..This is not like the lower weights, wherein Pac can have is way in negotiations. Against DLH, GB can shove their demands to Arum's throat from which he will have to accept, or else GB will walk and look for someone else..
Third, there have been a lot of discussion about what Roach and Pac wanting to fight DLH, but I havent heard anything from the Golden Boy... The truth is that there is a higher demand for DLH to fight Cotto or a rematch with Trinidad as his last fight, which would make as much money and more sense for DLH than fighting Pac. Cotto because he was the fighter that PBF ducked, and Trinidad for the revenge factor, plus both fighter being past their prime. There was never a mention from DLH about fighting Pac..Comment

not saying we want to see that fight.
i think everyone here is in agreement that oscar is too big for manny and the fight shouldn't be made.
i just get the feeling that roach is saying what he's saying to set the fight up.
oscar and manny can't just make this fight out of nowhere.
oscar will look like a bully if he asks someone of manny's size to fight him.
manny won't call out anyone either. that's not his style.
you have a case of two guys that wear white hats in this. freddie has to do the talking to "anger" or "call out" oscar.
freddie wouldn't say this on his own......Comment

I voted no, as its a ****ing ****** idea and all this Pac crap makes me want to throw babies. I suppose i didn't read it in a literal sense, more in a is this a fight worthy of being made kind of sense, which imo, it isn't in comparison with other fights that could be made.hmmm......
for the guys who voted no. can you honestly say if this fight was scheduled that you wouldn't watch it?
no matter if you think it's a gross mismatch. no matter if you think it's a circus freak show. you wouldn't watch this fight?
if this fight ever gets made i'm gonna dig this poll up and see who voted no. if i read you guys in post-fight threads or asking for the sopcast of the fight beforehand , i'm gonna laugh.
Why should Pac keep hopping around divisions? He is a great fighter and a great man, but wouldn't you rather see him attempt to clean out 135, as opposed to cop a beating from a hasbeen?Comment

how is speculation ******?
especially when there's articles about it.
if even one side is talking about a fight it's safe to throw around a few speculative ideas.Comment

what i want , what you want might not necessarily be what manny or oscar or their people want or would do.
my plan if i was manny and had absolutely control of everything having to do with him and his respective opponents?
end of 2008 - fight ricky hatton for his lineal belt.
beginning of 2009 - fight winner of marquez/casamayor
mid of 2009 - fight winner of guzman/campbell
end of 2009 - rematch juan manuel marquez if casamayor won or fight katsidis/diaz winner
beginning of 2009 - fight a young undefeated prospect that won't command big money at 135 so he can have a goodbye retirement fight in philippines.Comment
