The reason I say 2 years because if by then, Pavik hasn't taken up the offer, something will have gone seriously wrong. Everyone can see that fight is on the cards and will happen. If Pavlik chooses not to fight AA and totally dismisses him (as Calzaghe did to Kelly), THEN it's a duck.

The difference with Pavlik vs JC is that Calzaghe is talking about retiring after fighting Jones Jr, straight after.

Unlike AA Vs KP, that fight can't simmer because JC is ruling it COMPLETELY out. He's retiring right after (or so he keeps saying).

That fight needs to happen straight after, basically of Joe's retirement schedule. Whereas neither AA or KP are retiring any time soon.
Firstly Clegg's not really a big Calzaghe fan as it were, so that ruins your excuse of its all Calzaghe fans, dis mission. Your answer doesn't entirely make sense either. You use Calzaghe retiring as an excuse for not applying your odd 2 year rule. When really, the retirement does the opposite, many pick big fights with a big name and big pay day to set themselves up, Joe's never really had them so he's entitled as much as the many others have done it and will continue to.

It's typical a younger guy more fresh on the block is there but Calzaghes old and has been looking to retire for awhile. He's fought many young guys, many American. He can't keep doing it to avoid ppl like you saying he's not ducking, otherwise he'll never retire. Literally. That's something I'm not sure you've quite got your head around, and undermines your excuse of retiring, and turns it round on it's head infact.

I'd like to add Bob Arum offered Abraham a sheepish $1M offer in the wake of his demolition over Miranda.
Arum thinks that fighters should take any offer that is thrown at them. He is a pig. He did this with Marquez, and we got like a 3 year wait for Marquez-PAc too. Arum is the scum of the earth.

Whom has more fans? Pavlik probably by about 5 to 1 going by theyre national populations. Not trying to bait or anything, just saying this does have to be factored into many of the polls on the site. In peak US hours new polls have a tendency to change a lot come peak hours of say EU. It's only natural.

lol, i laughed at that as well. No way a welterweight beats a middleweight.
I honestly dont give a toss what ABC 123 Belt anyone owns. Pavlik holds the Ring Championship and wont lose that out of the ring. That will be on the line against Abraham and thats all that matters.

Lacy is no Pavlik? What the **** has Pavlik done thats so great? Beat Jermain Taylor after almost getting knocked out himself?

I see plenty of similarities. Both undefeated American KO artists touted as the "next big thing". Both have little technical ability and have very predictable walk forward styles.

Its a style which is tailor made to suit Calzaghe's strengths. We dont even know if Pavlik has power at SuperMid yet considering he only eeked out the 2nd fight with Taylor. Lacy had proven SuperMid power.

I think it could be slightly closer than Lacy cos Pavlik wouldnt get as easily discouraged. But I still see a comfortable wide decision for Calzaghe.

I love people who scream and shout at you for comparing Pavlik to Lacy just because Pavlik beat everyone to Taylor and KOed him first. Do you know what the Lacy fans were saying leading up to the Calzaghe fight? "Lacy has an underrated jab."

They were also saying that Calzaghe was "ducking" him and that Calzaghe was a "slapper".

Is anyone surprised that some people are getting a strong case of de ja vu here?

lol, Lacy could fight inside a bit, but couldn't box, and Taylor could box, but couldn't fight inside. Abraham can do both. Fight Abraham Pav. I hope Cal can turn back the clock 1 more time because people will think Pav is king if he beats a WW and a older H.O.F fighter.
