If he beats Pavlik i really don't see how people can criticise him anymore.

LOL, this ****s hilarious. I'm still not quite convinced to be honest, seriously. I dunno what he might be trying to do, but it just seem unlike him to make a decision on another fight, when he's not got this one out of the way. Normally he makes his final decisions a few weeks after a bout, obviously winning being a factor in deciding.

Such a short article aswell, I just don't believe it until there's some more on this. lol, hilarious that ppl now criticise him for saying ok I might fight another. Literally the guy does contradict sometimes but he's trying to please ppl sometimes and just can't.

I don't get what everyone is so up in arms with confusions about. Fighters that are getting up there in years claim about every fight to be their last fight. It is a built in excuse for a loss and a marketting tool. Did anyone actually expect Calzaghe to retire, especially after a win against RJJ potentially? No. The question would be where would he go from there. Would he fight the Tarver/Dawson winner or Pavlik? I think it would come down to which fight would generate more money, and I really think that would be the Pavlik fight at 168.

LOL, I'll hold my hat a fair way up for sure. I didn't say he could not return to SMW however, just that it was always very hard, and would be seriously hard now. I still don't quite believe he'd return to SMW, but we'll see. He would struggle with it bigtime, believe me. He'll eat nothing more than a yoghurt in the 2 days leading upto the fight. Risky stuff putting a SMW belt on the line at this stage.

It does appear as though the timing is perfectly crediting the fact Calzaghe was using the Pavlik offer to bargain better with Roy Jones. The Jones deal is probs signed, so now he's saying this. Roy mighta got out hustled for once.

I know that I, for one, will not be criticizing him at all (not that I really do anyway). Should he beat Pavlik, he'll cement his status as one of the very very best of his era.

We'll see, but I had it from a source I revealed on here about a month back that he has been planning to fight Pavlik after Jones for a while. I have always believed he'd fight Pavlik.

Calzaghe haters have hyped Pavlik up as the next Marvin Hagler and have predicted that he'll walk right through Joe; they won't have excuses when Calzaghe beats him, although a few will try to find some. I guarantee the same people will just call Pavlik overrated after the fight, dismissing it as not a good win for Calzaghe. As I said, some will go out of their way to disrespect him.

Agreed. I mean who else at 168 is there? Taylor maybe, but Pavlik is a more meaningful target right now.

If he beats Roy and takes on Pavlik Abraham or taylor I will give him credit as it is due to him.

I think the only option to shut people up is to fight and beat Pavlik. Nobody will give him enough credit if he fights Taylor or Abraham because they will say "he didn't go after the top dog in the division" or "Taylor lost to Pavlik twice". I really hope he fights Pavlik though not just to shut up the haters but just because it will be a great fight and another reason why Boxing is great.
